Situated 200 metres from the ocean, Quinta da Casa Branca is a contemporary boutique hotel set in a 19th century estate in a quiet residential area, yet still within walking distance of the oceanfront promenade and restaurants of Funchal's tourist zone, 500 metres away. Funchal airport (FNC) is 20 kilometres away, approximately 20 minutes' drive. Hotel Features. The heated pool is open all year and is set in the extensive gardens, which contain dozens of labelled plant specimens. 57 year old with a luxury budget, traveling for leisure
It is an excellent accommodation, the Bijou hotel in its own stunning grounds. Although a smaller hotel the staff was very professional and accommodating. We and another couple had superior rooms and our only gripe was that these did not have their own sun-loungers on the terrace whereas the standard rooms did, so if you didn't want to go down to the hotel swimming pool, you couldn't lay out.
The restaurant was excellent and we could have eaten in every night, but we did try other places to eat. The very best of these was Casa Portuguesa in the old town run by three charming ladies, it is beautifully decorated, has a small restaurant(probably about 25 people) and had wonderful food, try the steak on a stone, it was marvelous! I couldn't recommend this enough!
