Quality Suites Universal Orlando Hotel

My husband and I were in Orlando for a week on business recently, we had planned to stay at Quality Suites Universal on Canada Ave for the entire week, however we ended up staying the last 6 nights at Springhill Suites nearby. Once we arrived for our stay we were greeted by a very unfriendly male at the front desk, it took about 20 minutes just to check in. Once we took the stairs to the 4th floor ( due to an inoperable elevator) and got to our room , the downward spiral continued, there was what appeared to be a menstrual stain on the bottom sheet of the bed. It took 30 minutes to get a new set of sheets on the bed, once the sheets were on we barely received an apology from the staff. Needless to say it didnt take long to check out the next day, and end our stay.

I honestly would not EVER recommend anyone stay here, it is a filthy dump, that is to say least in an advanced state of disrepair, and that is putting it mildly. I stayed there in October and had over $500.00 worth of items stolen from my room on the second night, upon contacting the manager I was told nobody had entered the room and it was not possible to check the "history" of the key, which is totally false. Not to mention the Legionnaires outbreak that happend there recently, it is unfathomable the Hotel Management/Owners could continue to rent out rooms with total disregard for peoples health and welfare. I am going to do everything I can to see that Orange County authorites stay focused on this horrible place so nobody else is victimized or becomes ill.

I stayed there recently ( before the Legionnaires outbreak thankfully) while my new home in Orlando was being finished. It was just under a week , from the beginning of the stay I found it not to be very clean , there were alot of college kids up and down the stairwell all night, as one of the elevators was not working , the hallways smelled of urine. On one afternoon I overheard 2 housekeepers speaking ( in spanish ) very badly about a hotel guest , I guess they didnt care or assume that I too was bilingual. The icing on the cake was when I reported to the General Manager about the 2 condoms I saw floating in the pool, her reaction was of total disregard. It was unbelievable.

this was one scary trip.first of all on march 14 2008,i awake at our hotel go down for some breakfast and i see a notice on the pool area closed.i thought maybe it was closed due to cleaning or something,so i continue on with my day.we take the kids out to a park and around 2pm we arrive back at the hotel to find like 20 news teams and helicopters flying around.oh my goodness did i think something bad right away i was scared to get out of the van.so we gather up the 11 people we were with and go to the front doors of the lobby.at first we see several people at the front desk in a frizzy and then a lady from the news team turns her camera on grabs her microphone and comes right up to us and says .do you know what is going on,we reply no and then they asked did you just arrive back at the hotel we say yes,then she says so you don't know what is going on here ,we say know then she tells us there is to confirmed cases of legionarries disease and the source is from this hotel.oh my god we were so shocked,they tell us our hotel is being evacuated and we all have to find a new place to stay.and then it got better we then find out that this hotel was closed down a couple of weeks before we arrived due to health issues.and cant u believe that the notice i told u about in the beginning about the pool was closed for testing of the disease and low chlorine levels extremely low levels.so they new this info for 2 days prior to the news team telling us i yet know one who worked there had the decency to tell there customers nothing and keep us all in danger of this.

I can't believe this is happening! We have always stayed in this specific hotel , but never again.On March 14th we get back from typhoon lagoon at around 2 in the afternoon to see helicopters and news reporters everywhere, we were worried that something has happened that was horrible... ie murder, or robbery when it was an evacuation of the hotel due to legionnaires disease. This disease could pose a real threat 1st i have an infant traveling with us and a mother who has a medical problems where something like this could kill her. Mind you the manager was very nice handling the situation but i am angry because this hotel knew about this way before we even checked in and hid it from all the guests. They would not even release the room numbers that are being investigated to me thats wrong! And another thing that bursts my bubble is that when asked what are they going to do for the people that have been exposed for place to lie our heads they say our first priority is the guests who are checking in today, and you should make your own efforts to find another hotel.Hmm, it wasn't easy with a convention and swim meet in town, never mind us all being exposed on tv who was a guest that may be caring a disease.But thank god we found one. Now I have a son whos coughing and has a fever, and im terrified that it possibly could be it. So my warning to all , if hotel management can't be honest with you don't go there, the hotel may look nice, the workers may be nice ... but that does not give them the right to make money and put peoples life on the line.

One more thing ... I want to know if i never came back to the hotel at 2 and came back late from disney like we always do ... would i have even known what was going on or would they have still kept it there little secret.
