We spent one night at the Quality Inn Tanglewood, and I was surprised that online travel website gave it a somewhat high rating. The hotel rooms were very plain, and we had to ask to be moved from a non smoking room to another non smoking room due ...
54 year old male with a luxury budget, traveling for leisure
This is an independently owned motel. I couldn't speak with the manager at 8:30 AM about the previous nights problems ( room flooded at 2:30AM due to a burst pipe) because it was too early to wake him up. He still to date has never contacted me. Since it's an independent, if you stay here and have a horrible experience also, Choice Hotels will tell you there is nothing they can do about it. This is a real low class hotel. We had to throw our socks away. There are too many other good hotels to choice from in the area.
We had a death in the family, and had to book a room at a pet-friendly motel quickly. Found this one online.
We had a non-smoking room, king bed. The room was very spacious. There was a bathtub, with a separate shower, and 2 separate sinks. Made it nice when getting ready to go out.
Our room was clean, and the bed was outstanding. I was expecting to end up w/ the normal motel bed, sinking in the middle. This bed was very firm.
Our room fronted to an exit ramp from the Interstate, but it was very quiet. The contenential breakfast was as expected, breads, cereal, juice and coffee.
Refrigerator and microwave were a bit dated, but working and clean. Same with the television. Internet access was free and I didn't have any problems connecting.
The motel resides on a smaller local road. The entrance is marked, but not very well. You really don't see the marker until you actually make the turn onto the local road. We could see the hotel from the main road, but had to call them and ask how to get to them.
We have to return to Roanoke in a couple weeks, will stay here again.

This motel is somewhat rundown. We stayed here because it had a washer/dryer, but it was situated down a dark corridor, and I wouldn't use it after dark, The vending machines were half empty. The breakfast was passable, but barely so. The bathrooms...
