31 year old woman with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure
The only words I can use to explain my experience at this hotel are "Just plain gross!"
My family and I arrived in Orlando after 10 pm for our vacation. By the time we arrived at the hotel, it was well past 11pm, and we were absolutely exhausted after a long day of travel. We were not looking for fancy, just clean enough to lay our heads down.
When we first walked in to our 4th floor room, we immediately noticed the chair, which was so soiled, it should have been burned. It looked like someone had smeared pudding and crackers all over it...I shudder to think what it really was?? To make matters worse there was an insect feeding on whatever was in the chair- yuck! I immediately told my children (4&6 years old) that they were not to sit in the chair, and that we would be leaving first thing in the morning.
My husband then went into the bathroom upon which he found a very large water bug that he had to kill before our child could use the potty- still I was trying to convince myself that we would just be there for a few hours. Meanwhile I pulled back the covers on each bed and uncovered two ratty blankets.... "we'll just use the sheets tonight."
While in the bathroom my husband noted that the tub floor was so brown, that he would not allow our kids to bathe there in the morning.
My sleepy head 6 year old got her PJ's on, and i began to change my 4 year old who was too tired to move. I laid him on the sheets of one bed to finish putting on his Jammies and looked up just in time to find a small bug (bed bug? Crab?) making a beeline for his curly hair! I shrieked, yanked him up and said "That's it! We'll sleep in the car before we sleep here!" We immediately left the hotel... PJ's and all. There was no way we were going to spend another second there.
We were in the room only about 10 minutes... three bugs. 10 minutes. Let alone the ratty bedding, dingy tub, and soiled chair. Had my brain not been so terribly exhausted, I would have left at sight of the chair.
Needless to say we got a refund. The receptionist, though kind, did not seem the least bit surprised about our allegations about the room, and did not even offer us another room. (Not that I would have taken it, but the fact that she didn't offer makes me suspect that most of the the rooms are probably similar to that one). Never again!
