What a perfect place for our first anniversary. All prior reviews were accurate. The staff was friendly, and the hotel was clean. The rooms were small, but as my wife said ... "It's New York City." The shower was hot and strong, the plasma TV was crisp and the bed was more than just right. The first night we found a wonderful Indian restaurant within a few blocks which really hit the spot. The next day we walked to Hatsuama where we were treated to the best sushi we have had in years. We walked off the meal by walking to and through Central Park. What a great place to stay in NYC. Bravo.

If you have trouble sleeping this isn't the place for you. All the doors slam shut, and you can hear everything in the hallway outside your room. The location is really good though, in Time Square, near the subway. Not many amenities.

I liked the view of the Empire State Building.

The hotel had a good location, the room was very, very small, but well appointed and good value for the money.

We arrived on 2/13/2007 at 5pm or so.

The cab driver pulled the bags from the cab and we stood on the sidewalk waiting for the UPS guy to deliver to the hotel. I struggled the bags up the steps, and I have a bad back, I got them almost in the door and then the bellman appeared.

The room and rates we were quoted were correct. We had a King room on the 10th floor. It was not a small as I had feared, reading other reviews. We had a King bed, 2 nightstands, a desk with a chair. No plasma TV as advertised, and a bathroom with a slate floor and a shower only.

The room was clean with exception of large, old stain on the outer spread. The room and bath were cleaned and linens refreshed daily. No toilet paper was left on out second day, but a call to desk produced it immediately. A wake up call was requested and received on time. The high speed internet did not work in the room. The desk said to bring our laptop down to lobby and they would look at it. We were already unpacked and relaxing, so I decided to overlook this, I figured that we were on the top floor of an old building, with crummy high speed wiring. I took the laptop to the lobby and it connected just fine.

Ur room faced Times Square, and was kind of bright, but the shades worked just fine. There were two small elevators with single call button in the middle. I figured out quickly how to determine which elevator was coming. They were not fast, but not the 15 minute wait I had read in other reviews.

My biggest gripe would have to be the room key-cards, they didn't work most of the time, I had to insert, re-insert, etc., it was a pain in the butt. We mentioned to the desk and a manager came up and changed out the keys for new. Still, they only worked half the time.

The desk staff was helpful, professional and semi-friendly. Check-out was smooth and the bellman carried out our bags and hailed a cab. The price was $100 a night less than the Crowne Plaza one block away.

All-in-all, I would rate this property a B-. I would stay again.

The hotel's location was pretty good--- several blocks from the heart of Times Square. The restaurant and bar were below par -- the waitresses and bartender do not know how to service customers, even when there are no other customers. The rooms are pretty big for NYC standards, although the beds could be a bit firmer. The rooms were clean and also very well-maintained. It's a true bargain for the price (by NYC standards).

This hotel made me feel comfortable: The desk staff was very accommodating about most items.

I am very likely to return to the Hotel Stay (formerly Quality Inn).
I would definitely recommend it to friends.

The price quoted in the phone reservation was lower than the price quoted at check-in. The front desk staff was uncooperative in responding to this. The hotel has an odd elevator system with one call button for two elevators in different hallways. I had to run around the corner to get the elevator if it wasn't the one near the call button. It was difficult with luggage. The staff couldn't care less, they chatted with each other and ignored guests.

I am somewhat likely to return to the Hotel Stay (formerly Quality Inn).
I would not recommend it to friends.
