I enjoyed a nice weekend escape here. This property has a variety of rooms, an upscale spa, and a nice-looking golf course (I need to come back to play it). The service was excellent, and the price, at $310 a night, was a good value compared with other options in the area.
We had a nice drink at the bar one afternoon, and just spent a little time at the pool which was nice. The spa looked great, but we didn't partake. We had breakfast down at the golf clubhouse (no breakfast or lunch is available at the main lodge) but wasn't impressed with the service (they got our order wrong) or the over-buttered food, and wouldn't recommend it
Our room was very large and included a high ceiling, gas fireplace, sitting area, two queen beds, large bathroom and two private decks one with a hot tub. The private hot tub was an extremely nice bonus that I didn't expect. The beds were very comfy and had lush down comforters and high thread count bedding. The TV was small, but we didn't even turn it on, so I didn't mind.
On the downside, the room didn't have a view at all, and the bathroom definitely need updating in terms of it's styling and fixtures. More concerning was the fact that our room connected to another room (via a two door system) and the folks in that other room were very loud and woke us up both nights around 11 pm. There was not much we could do about it, but the rooms should be better soundproofed. If you go, recommend a room without the pass-through doors, or make sure it's a quiet group staying next door.
Overall, it was a great weekend escape, a good value for a high-end property, and recommended for people who want to be near Carmel, but enjoy the golf and weather in Carmel Valley.
