Driving the beautiful Northeast country road into Purity is a treat in itself. Once we arrived, the first thing the kids noticed was the giant iceburg climber in the water. Kids being kids, they immediately wanted in.
We took a few minutes to check in and find our room which was extremely comfortable. It wasn't a luxury hotel but it was clean, comfortable and cozy. It was our home away from home and all the staff at the resort made sure we felt that way. They were all so friendly and nice. After getting suited up, we headed out to explore the resort. It's a great place with a gazillion things for the family to do and it's all included! The kids swam in the pristine lake, we canoed, fished, hiked, biked, waterskied, spent time doing arts and crafts, and played tennis, volleyball and basketball. It's hard to imagine a place where they don't nickel and dime you for every last thing. They even have daycare available for free throughout the day so that my husband and I were able to head out for a few romantic ventures.
The food was incredible and included in our lodging package. We did take some time away from the resort and went to North Conway to do some shopping and to check out the tourist attractions. We had to drive all of 15 minutes or so to get there. Our stay included a Thursday night so we were able to experience their Lobster cookout on the island (accessed by footbridge). The lobster and corn-on-the-cob are steamed in fresh seaweed over a woodfire. Can you believe one of the owner's of the resort was the cook?!
What a down-home, relaxing, family-bonding experience. We noticed while we were there that they had a ski area called King Pine. We had so much fun this summer, we're going to give it a try this winter. You can stay right on the mountain!
