The food is ok- the pricing is way to high- and the service is not bad

I have been to the Publick House at least 10 times on business lunches so why to I keep going back!!!!!! Location, Location near the office and compared to the new Pudding Stone Inn this place is a thousand times better.

You should find out the secret of Redwoods down the street, the food is good - good pricing -ok the service is a little slow but that place is busy all the time.

I go there for lunch 3 times a week now and I go with my family on the weekends.

Publick House you need to lower you prices or up your menu for the high end folks who just like to be ripped off. Look just because your in Chester does not mean the locals will pay because they can afford to. Respect the community and give us good food/ good pricing and will return.

I would never had the pleasure of visiting this restaurant if I had listened to the earlier reviews posted on this site. On Saturday, Oct 20, 9 adults and 8 children, ages 5 months to 9 years, visted this restaurant afer a day of pumpkin picking. We arrived at 5:15 and left at about 8:30. Our server was very courteous and attentive. After ordering and receiving our drinks, we placed our order for appertizers. After receiving, we ordered our entrees. Everything came in a timely fashion, no mix ups, nothing had to be sent back, drinks reordered and brought quickly. From the shrimp/scallop croquettes and the calamari, to the braised short ribs, crab cakes, skirt steaks, etc., everything was perfect. Forgot to mention the desserts but they, also, were quite good. The decor was quite cozy as this is an historic building from 1810. My wife and I have a weakness for eating out, as well as our children, and this place is tops, no complaints from anyone. I strolled around at 6:30 and found a very nice crowd. I would definitely drive the 50 miles to have dinner there again

If you have not been there is the last couple of months go back the food is very good, the service has improved. We went on a Saturday it was crowded but we had a reservation for 8 people, we had two drinks each, appy, dinner and dessert and the bill with tax and tip was $54 per person, I think this is very reasonable for this area. The owners have many good restaurants and this one is going to be no exception.

We couldn't wait for the Publick House to re-open. It was sad to see it closed for so long. When we heard that the owner is the same as Provisi's in Morristown we were so excited! We love that restaurant. I don't know what happened.

The menu at Publick House was awful, service bad and our table overlooked the pizza kitchen. There was no need to have a table there. What a shame. What would it have taken to make it a good restaurant. The owners should check out the California Kitchen in Flemington. Incredible menu, yet casual! Healthy choices and priced right.

It's just plain bad. We went on a Saturday night with some friends. We heard that it was under new management and that the food had improved, we should have gone somewhere else.

Our food was served skewed, meaning that two people received their meals first, then the next two. My steak was tough and not cooked right and the fries were soggy. My wife's stroganoff was swimming in sauce that was not very good. Our friend's meals were ok. The wait for food was way too long.

The reason I say go somewhere else is because of the price. For a meal that cost us $140 dollars, we could have went somewhere else and found much better service and food.
