60 year old woman with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure

Right from the start we were doubtful - must have read the wrong reviews when we booked. (One i/n site gives terrific reviews, they must have the wrong place). Asked to look at room, seemed just ok, and as it was late in afternoon and bad weather, we decided to stay one night and cancel the other 2 we had booked. Right from the time we walked in it was all too much trouble for the receptionist, who whenever we approached her was talking to someone else or chatting across to people in the lounge opposite. We weren't the only ones not impressed by her. She couldn't have cared less and rude! In fact, she never did cancel the other two nights as requested and we ended up getting charged for them on our credit card. Not impressed with that.

One site advertises free highspeed internet in rooms. There wasn't. Also, that the place was renovated in 2005. Maybe the lobby, certainly nowhere else we looked. The sheets appeared clean but the bedspread wasn't, towels grey and barely covered, stains on bathroom wall that looked like blood but may have been hairdye, and a very polite man came in to check the ceiling wasn't leaking due to the rain! (we were on the top floor) You could see where it had leaked previously - leaked, looked more like flooded, the whole ceiling was badly stained! He got us a plate for the microwave as there wasn't one in it (receptionist told us there was! How would she know?) and was generally a pleasant person. Breakfast room made us wonder and there certainly were no waffles as others have advised. Food pretty sparse, have had much better in other budget places, fruit bruised and get out by 9am as by about 8.45am staff were glaring and had started to clean around the few people in there.

Didn't see any drug deals etc but only because we went to our room and stayed there. The guy on the desk the next morning was friendly and pleasant, but other staff were surly.

All in all, not a good place and we certainly will never return and will only recommend it as a place to stay away from.

My rating is really "0". This is the most disgusting place ever....do not stay at this hotel....I repeat....do not stay at this hotel. It is nasty, dirty, and full of rats and roaches, prostitutes, drug dealers, and, all the worst a city can provide. If you decide to stay, you are likely to be killed or come away with some awful bacterial, viral, or fungal disease.

56 year old woman with a economy budget, traveling for leisure

This hotel is disgusting, there is riff-raff inside and outside the hotel, soiled sheets, dirty room, cockroaches, bed bugs, rats, and a scary neighborhood.

I contracted scabies due to contaminated mattress and or linens. The hotel lies by showing good pictures, which are the opposite of what they really are. Only good thing is that the police station is two blocks away. Stay away if you don't want to get sick, or mugged.

It's dirty, and it's in a really bad neighborhood. If you suffer as a result of your stay, or have damage to your belongings, they absolutely will not give you their insurance carrier's name.

How they can stay open is beyond me, if you call ahead and ask questions, you will get only lies. Unfortunately, coming from out of state, and not knowing the area, is what they bank on.

We picked this place because it was the cheapest, I was visiting DC for volunteer work.

Although the staff was friendly enough, many of the door handles were broken off, and we understood why when two of our friends (women) staying in another room had someone try to break in. The night before there was a woman crying in the lobby about how "People come in and hold guns to your heads and try to take your money" and I wasn't sure if she was just hysterical. She was not.

Breakfast was super cheap fruit and super cheap bread, and I would only stay here if I were with a group that had at least two guys in it. It was pretty horrendous. I won't ever go again, I'll spend the money for something a bit safer.

I've lived in "urban" areas for over 10 years, and let me tell you, this was scarier and weirder than anything I've ever encountered.
