Power's Mansion was built from a gold-mining fortune in 1898 by Harold T. Power. Herbert Hoover, then a young mining engineer, was a frequent house-guest of Mr. Power. The mansion has ten gracious guestrooms with private baths and separate entrances. The Honeymoon Suite has a heart-shaped jacuzzi for two and a fireplace at the foot of the brass bed. It's just a short stroll out of the driveway to the heart of downtown Auburn, with it's old-fashioned drugstore soda fountain, restaurants and several unique shops. Area lakes and rivers have facilities for gold-panning, fishing and every water sport. Hiking, horseback riding, golf and snow skiing are also nearby. Guests will enjoy the comfort and elegance of a Victorian home and the hospitality of Gold-Country.

Alfred and Peggy were incredible hosts. They bent over backwards to cater to our every need. We ate so much we thought we were going to burst. We love Auburn. It's a great little town. We were here for a wedding and ended up sight-seeing. We'll come back again and see the rivers and more of the "gold town".
We had the perfect wedding there. It was such an amazing location, the staff was friendly and very helpful, and the price was much lower than we expected for such accommodations - the lawn wedding, the reception hall, and the rooms for the night.

The innkeepers have done an excellent job of renovating the mansion and the rooms are unique and comfortable.
They were warm and friendly people who really make you feel like family. They were also very helpful and informative, answering all my questions with enthusiasm. I highly recommend a stay here not only for the historical adventure, but for the great service and friendly atmosphere.
