I have stayed at Portofino at least five times and have never been disappointed. I was shocked to read some of the reviews here. It IS one block away from Disneyland (across the street) but remember, Disneyland takes up at least a block, so it is going to take a while to walk it and if you aren't up to walking, there is a shuttle that picks up next door (I can't imagine that the staff didn't know that) The staff has ALWAYS been great (do unto others...) The last time we stayed, my diabetic husband had forgotten his insulin at home. The young lady at the desk called the local Costco to ensure they could fill a prescription for insulin, then she gave me instructions on catching the local bus service which dropped me off right in front of Costco. True there is not a restaurant on site, but the hotel doesn't advertise that there is! The restaurant 'around the corner' is accessible through the back parking lot and serves a mean breakfast. Isn't part of the fun of going to Disneyland eating overpriced burgers & nuggets shaped like Mickey? I have not been to Disneyland in 3 years, but am planning our next trip and will continue to book my stays at Portofino.

We are a family of six...we were recommended to the Portofino by two families that we know...we did not know that there is an old section and a new section...we paid the extra money for the kid's suite (we have four)...our room looked nothing like the internet photo...the carpet was dirty and bubbled...the noise from the stairway and the overhead room was ridiculous...could hear kids screaming all night (not my own)...car alarms went off every night...the maid unplugged (not intentionally, the outlet was loose) our refrigerator and the freezer food thawed...when I complained (every morning) I was told that they were full and could do nothing to help me...the morning we left I went through the kid's room to find all of their belongings...there were bugs ALL over the bottom bunk mattress and and hide a way mattress (under the pad) was covered in food crumbs, litter,dirt...this has never been vacuumed before...upon checking out I informed the front desk of the problems with our stay...most definitely fell on deaf ears...not even a apology...we would never stay or recommend again...

We traveled from Canada and requested rooms together as we were traveling with 2 special needs persons. We had to upgrade to all kids suites in order to do this, with extra billing. Too far of a walk to Disney with a grandmother and handicapped persons. No safe in rooms to lock up money and passports, electrical outlets did not work in 1 of the rooms, and lights flickered in the other. Very noisy from rooms above. Front desk did not seem to know much about transportation or anything, and sent us next door to the Sheraton for information. Would not ever stay here again. Hotel needs major work, and staff that knows something about Disney.

We chose this hotel because it was near Disneyland in Anaheim. It's only a block away from the main gate.

The rooms are the primary reason we chose this hotel, there is a separate kids room with sliding glass doors that separate their space from adult space. But having stayed there once, we wouldn't do so again.

First, the floor had strong odors, a sewer smell down in the main hallways, which crept into the rooms. The telephones worked sporadically and the front desk didn't show much interest in fixing the issue.

There's no restaurant at he hotel, you get a voucher for a restaurant a short walk away. But the main reason we won't go back is the fact that six weeks after our stay, the hotel decided to debit our checking account (we had paid our bill with our Visa debit card) again for the full amount we had paid two months before.

It took more than a week of repeated phone calls and e-mails to the manager and their accounting department before they fixed the problem and returned our money. No apologies, no nothing from the hotel staff. This speaks volumes about their attitude towards their guests.

Our advice: Find a different hotel.
