Let's start with the drive in to the resort: Terrible without a plow attached!!!
I understand we went to the resort in the winter, but the road leading up to the front entrance was covered in ice. When we got to the hotel the only parking was around the side and down a steep hill. It was icy and the walk back up the hill to get inside was downright ridiculous. I was wondering how many lawsuits are pending.
The registration: Information please?
We checked in at the front desk and were promptly asked for our credit card and were given the room keys. If we didn't ask any questions we probably would not have had much conversation with the receptionist, other than how we planned to pay for our stay.
The room: Remodeled when?
The current website for the hotel claims it was remodeled. I'd like to know when it was remodeled, 1902 (the year it was built)? There was paint peeling off the ceiling, walls, doors etc. When my wife and I took a shower, we were calf deep in water due to poor draining. The TV was incased in this armoire of some sorts and the front nearly fell on my head. The pictures on the website must be of some sample room somewhere because you'd be hard- pressed to find that level of quality in any of the regular rooms.
The Food: Terrible!!!
The food was terrible. For dinner they claim a four course meal. When we arrived in the dining room we were greeted with a buffett. Also, instead of letting us know how the dinners worked we were asked our name and shown to a table. We were given a few pieces of paper and were told to sign and indicate room number. Since they claimed you sat at the same table for all your meals, we figured they were just registering us for our table. We embarked soon after on an attempt to eat. We both enjoyed about a bite or two of our meals and promptly went for dessert. I left out that we finally got water when we were eating the dessert. The best part about our dinner, we were charged $45 and we didn't even know until we were checking out. It was supposed to have been included in our package but was not, this was not the fault of the hotel. However, it would have been nice to know we were being charged $45 to eat a few bites. The food at the hotel bar was ten times better, and it was cheaper.
Overall: We will not be back to this hotel and will not recommend anyone to go there unless they enjoy no service and inferior quality all for the same cost of much nicer resorts in the area. Lastly, we have stayed at many places but none have been as terrible as this place; not even the Red Roof Inn!!!!
