Yes, the lobby is a nice draw. What the hotel forgets to mention is that part of the lobby is not used by guests. Our beds were like rocks. We changed rooms the next day and I guess we upset them because they gave us a room on a floor that was in disrepair and there was mold on the walls of the room as well as around the tub and all over the shower curtain. The air conditioner units in the rooms are very loud. If you can manage to fall asleep on the slabs of granite they call beds, the air conditioner will surely wake you up when it kicks on. And believe me when I say the thing NEVER stops running. There was an $8.00 a day parking charge that was not mentioned at reservation but surely was mentioned at check in. The parking spaces are tight. Someone opened their door into our car and dented it. The bellhop watched us struggle with our luggage and did not offer to lend a hand. The restaurant is very over priced - $29.00 for a steak? The bar/pool area was very loud and so crowded we could not swim. The drinks were lousy. They charged $18.00 for a "bucket" of beer - 4 beers in a plastic container. Oh, and the breakfast buffet that is advertised is non-existant. It only happens when the occupancy is high, which I guess is not very often.

We moved to this hotel after a bad experience at the neighboring hotel the Plaza Ocean Hotel (they are affiliated). We upgraded to a Ocean view Suite and also a regular room because we are a family of 6 with an infant. We were very satisfied with the Ocean view room and we also used the spa and were satisfied.
Another great things about the hotel is that you cannot park cars on the beach starting right by the hotel. At the Plaza Ocean Hotel cars ARE allowed.
In general we were not pleased with the Daytona Beach Area so we probably will not go back.

Within 5 minutes two separate phone calls got "only suites available" and "plenty of rooms available." Based on reviews we would definitely NOT picked this property, but our friends already had reservations for a long weekend at the beach. At the rime of reservation and at check in we asked for our two rooms be located as close as possible to our friends. Great job - my wife and I on the 8th floor, our kids on the 4th, and our friends on the 7th on the other side of the hotel! The desk "gentleman" just gave me a blank look and handed me the keys in spite of my inquiries. Big "No coolers on pool deck" sign. I guess coolers mean beach bags, shopping bags, purses, etc by the way the pool bar manager kept patrolling the pool area demanding to know what was in anything he couldn't see in. An obvious hotel employee was sitting at a table using his cell phone to report "suspicious" people. We watched him looking around, make a call, and out would come the bar guy! Pretty bad way to capture business. Prices for anything at the bar and grill very high...checked out the resturant menu - ridiculous prices for what they offered - wife by this time too ticked off to consider their spa. Had already made up my mind after one night at this place but the best was yet to come. Went to the parking garage (8.00 per night that they didn't mention - must have been very fine print when checking in but large print on the hotel bill) to load the luggage when I noticed the driver side window smashed and my GPS missing. Did I mention they have parking security? Or that there were three cars that same night broken into? Front desk did their best to not be helpful. A maintenance person was sent to have me fill out some forms. They were not for me, but for the hotel file. Had to ask three times for the police to be called. Hotel manager would not return any phone calls despite being called all day and messages left. They did allow me to keep one room past check out while the window was being replaced. Gee! What service. Never again Daytona and will sleep in the gutter before I go back here.
