My friends and I have taken an annual trip to Bogus Basin and the Pioneer Condominiums for several years now. During our visit this year we really noticed a decline in the quality of the accommodations. The current management is also not as customer oriented as the previous management. The service fellow was quite helpful though. When we arrived we were told we could only have one key to each unit. This was a serious inconvenience since there were six of us staying in the same unit. The manager was initially inflexible about this telling us no one else had a problem with the policy. We had two units for our group. One of them was "upgraded" and the other was not. The upgraded unit was clean and had newer furniture. However, the other unit was very, very dirty. The carpet had too many stains to count. It was way beyond cleaning and needed to be replaced ASAP. The oven contained a filthy broiler pan with pooled drippings from a roast of some sort. The odor was terrible. The bathroom floor was disgusting. The refrigerator was dirty and very old. It wasn't even self-defrosting, so the freezer compartment was a block of dingy ice. The furniture, which was cheap to start with, was in poor condition. Legs on the benches of the dining table were loose and in danger of falling off altogether. Another problem was that the kitchens were inadequately stocked. Although the occupancy for the units is eight there are not enough place settings for even six people. Our group will have to discuss whether we want to return there again or find another destination for our annual trip.
