I am a travel agent, and I was very disappointed with my stay at the Pine Ridge Inn. It was the dirtiest hotel I have ever stayed at. I would have gladly paid the extra $20 to stay at another hotel in Merrill. The walls of our room were streaked with a brown residue, the carpet was stained and dusty, the mirrors hadn't been cleaned, the shower was stained, the floor in the bathroom still had dirt on it, the box springs of my bed were heavily stained, the tv was dusty and streaked with some sort of food residue, the smoke detecter was in pieces on the floor with no battery, they used the back yard as a garbage dump, the driveway was not plowed for some time, even though it had snowed recently, and the continental breakfast was gross. In fact, the continental breakfast consisted of uncleanly had squeezed orange juice, and milk that was put into a crusty pitcher, instead of being left in the gallon container. The whole hotel stunk like something rotten. The pool area was nice, but it was filled too much, so it flooded the whole pool area with 2 inches of water. Also, the owners do not want their guests swimming on Sunday, so they shut the pool down. We also found out from some locals that an unsolved murder occurred at the Pine Ridge a couple of years ago, and most of the people we spoke to thought that we were put in the murder room. (Even though the hotel was almost empty, and we could have been put in a different room.) The owner asked how I felt about the property, and I expressed my disappointment to him. He never offered a refund, or a discount. He did offer me a free stay in the future, but this place was so nasty, I still feel like I need to take multiple showers 1 week later! I will NEVER go back, and I recommend that others stay away as well.
