Finally, on the Central Coast, an exquisite country inn provides a romantic setting for an escape to the leisurely pace of an earlier time. Very near is William Randolph Hearst's famous castle, where Hollywood's earliest stars came to enjoy the untouched California countryside. Eight beautiful rooms, each with its own bathroom, shower in old claw foot tub, and all are decorated in the style of the famous stars that visited the castle in those days. The Pickford House overlooks Rancho Santa Rosa and the Santa Lucia Mountains. There are unique shops, art galleries and gourmet restaurants in Cambria. Hearst Castle is a short 8 miles north; Morro Bay and San Luis Obispo a short drive to the south. To the east there are numerous vineyards, orchards and berryfarms all with tasting rooms.

Good
I had a very short stay at this B&B, but was welcomed by very a nice staff person. The inn is nicely furnished and very comfortable. My room was on the highway side, so there was street noise (earplugs took care of that). Other than that it was...

Excellent
Beautiful room with a lovely view. Peaceful and excellent B&B charm. The Innkeeper and staff were perfect. I highly recommend. We stayed in the Rudy Valentino room. The antiques and ambience really made us feel we were living in the 1920's.

Mediocre
The Pickford House has a charming theme: all of the rooms are named after early movie stars like Mary Pickford, Norma Talmadge, Rudy Valentino, and Clara Bow. This is an apt theme since the B&B is only 8 miles from The Hearst Castle where many of...
It's just not my kind of place. I have to confess that I only spent about 5 minutes looking for a place to stay in Cambria and this was the second one I called and they had a room (this was a long weekend).

Good
We stayed in the Rudolph Valentino Room. Each room at this inn is named after movie stars of the 20's. Many of whom stayed at Hearst Castle. The room was large it and decorated in rich reds and purple velvets with photos of Valentino on the wall....
