We absolutely loved our stay in the Hiawatha cabin and can't wait to return to Peterson's. We were actually sad that we had to leave after only one night. We arrived around 1:30 pm, not realizing check-in was not until 4 pm. One of the owners, Wendy, who was extremely friendly and helpful, said it was no problem that we were early and actually walked me to our cottage and showed us where everything was.
The grounds are wooded and beautiful with a path that is a short walk to a gorgeous private beach on Lake Superior. Each cottage has outdoor tables and chairs and we were thrilled to have a grill to cook with which we brought charcoal for.
The cottage itself felt like we were in a home away from home. It had a full size refrigerator (with ice trays filled), a stove and a sink with a drainer, and all the supplies to wash dishes with. The kitchen was also equipped with all the dishes and cooking pans and utensils we needed. There was a toaster, coffee maker and microwave. We had a full size table for meals and a very comfortable living room with a couch, coffee table, recliner, side tables and a TV stand. The living room even had a hanging plant adding to the homey feeling.
The entire cottage, including the two bedrooms, was tastefully decorated and very clean. Our bed was comfortable and we slept well with the air conditioner on. The bathroom was well supplied and had a full tub/shower. We had a phone and cable TV with good service. We didn't have the need but had we, the gift shop offered ice, snacks and even frozen pizzas.
The other guests seemed respectful as there was never a noise issue, it was very quiet and peaceful. We didn't have a single complaint about the accommodations or our stay. Quite the opposite than other cottages we’ve been in. We are looking forward to next summer when we will definitely stay there again and hopefully for years to come.
