The Pennsbury Inn's five sitting rooms, seven bedrooms, dining rooms and eight acres of landscaped grounds comfortably blend colonial heritage with casual elegance.A study done a few years ago by a well known historical architect and six Penn grad students, reveals much of the Inn's past. The inn is a large but cozy retreat with uneven floorboards, slanted doorways, winding staircases and walk-in fireplaces. On acreage purchased from William Penn's Commissioners, the Inn's original dwelling house was erected in 1714. It was enlarged mid-century by a stone and brick addition and in the 19th century with a clapboard extension. Until recently a private home, owners Cheryl and Chip Grono have returned the structure to its 1800's role as a country inn. Let Cheryl turn down your covers and leave a home baked goody on your pillow and start you off the next morning with a sumptuous breakfast on your next special trip to the romantic Brandywine Valley. All the rooms have feather beds, modern baths, phones, computer modems & wireless, as well as cable TV.

Okay
Charming B&B if you like the ambiance of an old house (originally built in 1714 and there are two later additions, both quite old). The innkeepers are quite pleasant and have thought of every detail, down to ever robe in the closet.

Innkeeper, Cheryl was the icing on the cake in this cozy, expansive inn. Steeped in history, it lured and allured my baby shower guests with ambiance and room to spare for mom-to-be and our guests. She was extremely helpful in arranging those...

This 1714 inn is certainly charming but the added bonus of being able to have our dog, Holly, stay with us, was definitely a treat. She, of course needed to be well behaved and was throughout our visit. She even like the little one-eyed white dog...
