The Peekskill Inn epitomizes greed and arrogance. They know that this the only game in town, and this becomes painfully obvious once you’ve inserted the key card and walked into your assigned room.
At $125, we expected at least the quality you’d find at a Comfort Inn. Instead, the quality was much more similar to a highway truck stop! I would have preferred a Motel 6 for the same price, if one had been available in this area.
Our room had old, peeling wallpaper. There were no decorations except for one lonely commercial framed picture – the type you see at K-Mart for $10. The room was dark and depressing, with no overhead lighting and only the most basic furniture.
The bathroom was tiny and dingy. The shower had a crusty body wash dispenser, which was gross! There were some warped drop ceiling tiles that had water damage and discoloration. The sink and tub were yellow plastic and very old, with rusty plumbing.
To add insult to injury, the Peekskill Inn’s restaurant had Midtown Manhattan prices! The least expensive entrée on the menu was $18.00! The front desk clerk, who was very sweet and helpful, directed us to the Westchester Diner down the street where we had a very enjoyable dinner for ½ the price!
Conclusion: If you need to be close to town and are not willing to drive 40 minutes to be in this area, you’re unfortunately stuck with this Inn as we were. But if you do have the time, I’d strongly recommend staying in Tarrytown, Fishkill, or on the other side of the Hudson near West Point – but not here! Don’t say you haven’t been warned!
