i usually go to the golden moon to gamble but since it is closed i go to the star which is filthy! i like sitting at the bar to do my gambling while my wife plays on the floor.the problem i have is at the bar it is usually filled with people who set there and dont gamble and get their drinks free. one night iwatched a person stick his ticket in get his drink get up and hand his ticket to his buddy he got a drink then gavethe ticket to someone else this happen 5 times in aperiod of 15 minutes this is going on constsntly. a lot of the people free loading work there and cut up with the beverage supervisor when they come around. its bad when you cant find a place to lose your money because bad and very unprofessional management.

Been a slot player at the Silver Star since 1997 and have won some nice jackpots over the years (when the slot machines were paying out). Stopped going in 2005 because the slots just dried up and no one were hitting any jackpots.
The V.I. P. Hosts use to cater to your needs and would see that you were taken care of.
Rooms were always nice and clean and room service was exellent.
Food at the restaurants were always great with an exception of a problem here and there.
Waitresses, food servers, clerks, housekeeping, and other various staff of the hotel would go out of their way to help. I've always enjoyed going to Pearl River Resort because they made you feel like you were family.
(THAT WAS THEN)
(THIS IS NOW)
This past weekend, my wife and I decided to go back to Pearl River and see if things had changed. They did from bad to worse. Got connected to a new VIP Host due to my host no longer worked there after years of service.
When I go to check in, I was told that the room was not ready and to come back in one hour. I came back in 1 1/2 hours and the room still was not ready and you guessed it,
come back in an hour. I asked to see my Host and was told that she went home sick. Well to make a long story short, the room was O.K. but outdated.Had a very small T.V.
Food at Miko's was good but pricey. The food at the buffet was O.K. The Villa had a decent Breakfast, if you ordered off the menu. The Rib Shack had good food and the price was O.K. The Bistro serves a good breakfast and the price is O.K.
The service at these restaurants are slow most of the time.
I stayed at the Silver Star Hotel and played slots at the S/S and the Golden Moon. Slots played was always at the high limit area. Finally won a nice Jack Pot, but still left with less than I came with.
I never did get to see or meet my new host before I left. To some it all up, I don't think I will go back until a lot of changes are made in MANAGEMENT, SERVICE, and most of all, LOOSE SLOTS,LOOSE SLOTS and more LOOSE SLOTS.
I am somewhat likely
to return to the Pearl River Resort.
I would not recommend it to friends.

This was once a nice casino, but no longer. They are in deep financial trouble and are now squeezing every dollar out of customers they can. Staff is very unfriendly. Go some place else.

I absolutely love the Silver Star and Golden Moon! The food at both hotels is A+. Villa at Silver Star has the BEST homemade pizza you have ever tasted. Both buffets are absolutely delicious--a wonderful variety of any kind of food and dessert you can imagine.
The gift shops at both hotels are GREAT! Beautiful merchandise and great prices. Also, both hotels have great swimming pools. They are both beautiful and relaxing. The staff is wonderful too. Always helpful, smiling, greeting me, making sure I have a great time. The rooms are very large and comfortable with gorgeous bathrooms. I always win on the slots!! Plus the background music in the casinos ROCKS! They play the BEST upbeat music from the 70's which I love. I LOVE this place!!! Would highly recommend it!!

I frequent Pearl River often. Once a week. I will not be going back for a long, long time. You can forget winning. When you spend $400 and don't even get a play back, something is wrong!!! The food - two thumbs down! The rooms - well they used to be very nice. The service - you might see a waitress once every 2 - 3 hours. The slots - tighter than "20 toes in one sock"! Comps - cut to shreds! Needless to say, the place has gone down. Way down!

I have been going to Pearl River to gamble for years. I just returned 7/4/08 from a trip there. Each time I go I carry a new person who signs up to become a member. I was totally embarrassed by the treatment I received I have bragged to everyone who enjoys gambling to encourage them to go but this time I was totally embarrassed by the treatment the staff gave us, the food was horrible and there are no waitresses on the floor so I had to go to the bar to order a drink. Usually they offer free drinks if you are playing but this time (even though I received free drinks the lady bartender was a total jerk.) She told us that we could only get a drink every 20 minutes. Never has this happened. I don"t plan to return there for a while even though we have reservations next week we will be canceling. Our plan is to go a little further south in MS or go to Vicksburg. This is sad because I really have enjoyed Pear River. There had to be a lot of changes because this trip was a nightmare.

People - Pleasant, Friendly, Not well trained to be service oriented
Food - Tried 4 restaurants:
The Villa - good service, low cost, low quality food.
The Rib Joint - good service, good food, reasonable prices.
The Galaxy - poor service, poor food, overpriced.
The Steakhouse - poor service, overpriced, low quality food.
Rooms (Non-smoking rooms)
First night - Room was smoky, thought maybe someone had smoked in it recently. Next morning had housekeeping spray and deodorize room.
Second Night - Smoked had seeped into room and thus deodorizing was to no avail. Room was extremely noisy from Casino (4th floor with window overlooking casino) Moved in middle of night to higher floor.
Third night - lightly smoky, quiet, slept okay
Casino - slots and tables have mostly low limits, this casino has the most penny and nickel slots I have ever seen in one place, low income gamblers (enough to want to make you stop paying taxes)
This hotel is a smokers delight.
Staff is pleasant but not service oriented.
Casino attracts a low income crowd, thus the lack of need for service.
There is no need to supply high quality food or service to the crowd that patronizes this casino.
If one is looking for a higher quality casino stay in Mississippi, they should try the Gulf Coast.
