The Golden Moon hotel is excellent as far as cleanliness, comfort and service in all areas. I have been going there since it began, when Silver Star was a metal building in a field; long before Golden Moon was even built.
However, if you go to win on the slots, forget it unless you are a high limit player. The last four times I have been were duds. No $l.00 and down machines were hitting jackpots...and they used to; don't know why they have lowered the payouts, but they must have 'cause I watch and no one I saw, including me, was hitting, and when I'm awake, I'm playing the slots.

Room service on last two trips to Silver Star was non-existent. Was given various excuses as to why our breakfast never arrived and I was staying on the 12th floor suites.

Excellent place for a short time. I just don't know why people bring the kids (under 10). This is definately not a place for them. There is the waterpark and a gameroom for older kids. The staff at Silver Star handles obnoxious ones real well.
The rooms at both Hotels are great. Golden Moon is a little nicer, but I enjoy both. Make sure you check with the different resturaunts about their service. Some have a waiting list(especially on weekends).
Make sure you get your Rewards card. Free rooms and food, plus a little money is why we keep going back every two or three months.

I have been going to Pearl River Resort for the last 4 years. The 5 hour drive from Atlanta makes it the perfect spot for a long weekend getaway.
Hotel: I find that the Golden Moon Hotel is a little nicer than the Silver Star. The room decor in both hotels is not to my taste, but the rooms are clean, the bathrooms are big and the beds are very comfortable. One of the things I like best about the rooms at Golden Moon were the bed linens. They use real comforters on the bed, not the lousy nylon bedspreads found in most hotels.
Casino: The Golden Moon casino is in a word, "beautiful". They have a huge selection of slots, adequate table games, and a gorgeous bar right in the center of it all! This casino is has a more classy feel to it than the Silver Star. The Silver Star casino is also a great place to visit and play. It has more of a "fun" feel to it, and a live band that plays most nights.
Both casinos have a great staff, the waitress service is always good, except in the very early morning hours when they are doing the shift change. Comps come pretty easy, I have been comped a meal with only a few hours of play (average $15 a hand) at blackjack. And most importantly, they do not use continuous shuffle machines on their table games!
Dining: Between both casinos, there are a lot of dining options. You can do anything from expensive steak dinners, to pizza and cheese fries. I mostly eat at the cafe, and the food has always been good, especially breakfast!
Overall, this is a fabulous place to come when you want a mini-vacation. I have always had a great time.
