A place to get away

While the Patricia Grand is getting older and is in need of some TLC in areas, it still is a great place to get away during the off season. We have been coming down for the past four years and have been pleased each year. The elevators could use some work, but the staff is very friendly and bent over backwards to make our stay enjoyable.

Our non-smoking room stunk of cigarettes, closet door was off the hinges, cupboard door in kitchenette was broken, one of the double beds was on it last legs. Housekeeping never vacuumed. 149.00 per night. Too bad the pool is nice and the grounds are lovely. Not worth it!

I was very disappointed with this hotel. The condition of the room was awful. The closet shelf was broken . The lampshades were tattered. The kitchen was a joke. The cabniets are in very poor condition. The kitchen drawers just fell out. We also had fleas on the ceiling .
The hallways were very dirty as well. I would not recommend this hotel. It is in major need of repairs and updatong.

The outside and the lobby are very pleasing to the eye. However, once you enter the elevator, it is all downhill from there. The room was not very clean. The sliding glass doors on the closet were off track and falling apart so we were afraid to reach into the closet. We did get the ironing board out of the closet. It was broken and we had to lay the board on the bed in order to press clothing. We were assured that we would have an oceanfront room with a private balcony. This was a big disappointment. The room was on the side of the hotel in a set back. You could see maybe 100 feet of the beach and ocean. We could not leave the balcony door curtains open since this balcony was 30 feet or less from the balconies of the next hotel.
Housekeeping is a joke. We had to make our own beds since the sheets were just thrown on the bed any kind of way. And, on one day, housekeeping could not provide us with washcloths. We stayed for five days and the trash was only emptied twice.
We read the reviews on this hotel prior to making reservations and decided to take a chance anyway. When we asked the front desk person about not getting the accomodations we reserved, this person was very rude.
We have had a couple of problems at other hotels on prior visits to Myrtle Beach but nothing ever like this. We definitely made a mistake by staying at this hotel.

The amenties are wonderful - indoor and outdoor pools, beach front , balconies, onsite restaurant, etc. But yes, the rooms are dirty, the pool is sometimes dirty, the elevators make you feel as if they are doing to crash at any moment, etc. If I didn't have children I wouldn't even consider the place, but I've been there numerous times and my boys absolutely love it! The breakfast there is great, people walk from other hotels to eat there. Also, the staff is friendly and helpful.

The location was beach front. The staff was good, the lobby was beautiful. Bu my advice is to be careful with your possessions. We left an item in the room which was not located.
This hotel made me feel relaxed: I was pleased with the accommodations. Each room had a kitchen. The elevators worked well which made you feel more comfortable riding them. The furniture in the lobby and the room was quite nice.

The rooms were dirty and they had an unpleasant smell. We were moved to another room and it was cleaner. The amount of money charged was very steep for the amenities provided. I will not stay there again.

The Patricia Grand hotel was a great place to stay. The indoor pool and the lazy river were so much fun. It was a great experience!
This hotel made me feel important: Even though we were young adults, the staff treated us as regular guests. You do not find that very often with most hotels.
