43 year old female with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure

My husband and I stayed this past weekend with our toddler. The room was awful and it was not cleaned properly. Our toddler found everthing that their cleaning staff did not vacuum or sweep. The resort really needs to update it's rooms, carpets and appliances. Only two elevators were working. Check out was a nightmare it took forever for the bellman to bring the luggage cart. This is my last visit to Patricia Grand. Our visit was not grand at all.

The outside of the hotel was nice but once you stepped into the lobby it was dirty, run down and showing wear and tear. We were put into one room and the carpet didn't appear to have been vacuumed in weeks. There was trash everywhere. We lifted the bedspread to find french fries and other food under the bed that looked like it had been there for weeks. We asked to be moved to another room. The second room was cleaner but had obvious signs of wear and tear. The closet door had to be man handled to open. The fixtures in the bathroom were rusty. The navy blue carpet appeared to have been vacuumed but was dirty (could even see this with the navy carpet). I didn't take my shoes off the whole time we were there. The elevator creaked and moaned and sounded like it came from a salvage yard. We noticed that the elevator had not been inspected in over a year!! My son went to the game room and nothing worked. The inside pools lacked ventilation and the smell of chlorine would make you sick. The outside pools were full of sand and I don't think they were cleaned the entire 3 days we were there. Would never stay in this place again.

DO not let the Patricia Grand's internet description fool you! The layout of the room was the ONLY thing good! Lazy river/hot tub area reeked highly of chlorine and has mildew on the walls; indoor pool again high smells of chlorine and dim; outside pool..green on the wall; indoor gameroom..sounds good...evidently NO venting..horrible smell! If you just want a place to sleep, you'll be ok, but if you plan on enjoying any of the other things with your kids...FORGET IT!! WE WILL NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN...we go every year to MB and usually have 3-4 other families with us. I was SO GLAD they did not come this year because I am the one who makes our arrangements...I would have been TOTALLY EMBARRASSED to have taken them HERE!!! Even the area by the gift shop and elevator smelled of mildewed carpeting!!

The rooms are not as described, most rooms give you great views of other people's balconies, far from the "ocean view" they describe. The rooms show noticeable wear of drunken spring breakers with damaged furniture, stained carpet, and bad smells. I wouldn't even lay my luggage on the chair because it was stained so badly. Everything is old - from the decor I would guess updates haven't occurred since the mid 80s. Which is pretty gross when you think about how long a bedspread had been on a bed.

Lets see, the staff is worthless and rude. Don't bother requesting a non-smoking room. They all have been smoked in and stink. (Luckily, I am an ex-smoker and am not completely repulsed by cigarette smoke). The parking garage is small and there are roaches. Big and small. But the beach was nice. All in all, it was one of the worst hotel experiences I have had. I couldn't relax at all, which is why I took my vacation in the first place. I wish I could rate this place a negative star because one is being far too generous.

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Patricia Grand for a long weekend getaway. Be warned - not all rooms are the same. Some have been updated, others have not. Some are damaged very badly, while others have minor wear (but still not new by any means). It is a gamble to what you are going to get. That is why these reviews are so mixed. As for cleanliness, it is by far the dirtiest hotel I have ever stayed in. I had to drink a few glasses of wine each night before I felt comfortable sleeping in the dirty bed. The staff was very rude and unprofessional, complaints addressing the staff doesn't matter nor do they get resolved. The parking garage is tiny. Supposedly, this hotel is under new management but please do not let that fool you into believing it is a decent hotel. One good thing is the ocean view, but the room smelled of cigarette smoke and urine so badly (even when we specifically stated - no smoking or urine ;-), it was hardly enjoyed. I am sure these reviews mean nothing when people are desperate and need a room and this hotel will stay occupied regardless of reviews counting on desperation, but for the sophisticated traveler you will be very disappointed. It is almost criminal that they can actually charge money to stay at this dive.
