This is an older unit. The residents were nice. The unit was very clean and wonderfully decorated. The pool was old but clean. It is right down the street from the polynesian cultural center.

It has an ungoing smell of the sewer. When the trade winds blow it improves but is still present. Is also undergoing continuous noisy repairs. Also the hired help invites their families to use the facilities such as the pool and lounge chairs and generally leave nothing left for paying guests.

The link to the "resort" here is not accurate. Pats at Punaluu has no general web site. That link leads to the site of a rental agent with only a couple of old units that have seen better days. I advise anyone interested to go to vrbo.com or similar vacation rental sites so that you can comparison shop for the best deal and nicest unit. Each unit is privately owned. If the owner has not upgraded their unit then you will most likely end up with something sub-par from the 1970s. Several owners have beautifully upgraded their units and good deals can be had. The remodeling work on the building is completed. Ignore reviews complaining about ongoing work prior to 2008. The beach here is secluded and beautiful. The atmosphere is laid back. The area is green and tropical. Some units rate a 9 or 10 and some rate very low. I would give an overall 8 on the property.
