Good
Our recent stay was for medical reasons and this hotel was chosen because of the convenient location and because a friend had recommended it to me. My husband booked the room over the internet and we thought the rate was good for the time of year....

This hotel is in a great location, walking distance from Granville Island, BC Place and lots of great restaurants along West Broadway. The hotel was renovated since our last stay a few years ago and the rooms are wonderful. It's especially nice to have a fridge & microwave in our room and a guest
laundry room available for our use. Many of the same staff are still there and they really took care of us. But the best thing, what brought us back is the view of the city and mountains. Make sure you upgrade to the view rooms, it's not much extra and it's sooooo worth it.

We loved this hotel and the location. There were several very good restaurants within easy walking distance, and the restaurant IN the hotel was very good also! There's a 24 hr drugstore and a Tim Horton across the street. We enjoyed the view from our balcony. Loved Earl's restaurant and Banana Leaf. We were so glad we stayed here and not downtown. SteepsTea, across the street has delicious Chai Latte.

Upon entering the room, we noticed a strong smell of stale cigarettes with an overlay of unpleasant disinfectant. We complained at the front desk and were told that we got a smoking room with a view of an alley because we had reserved through online ...

The restaurant in the hotel was VERY good, and there were a lot of restaurants within walking distance. Tim Horton across the street open 24 hrs, same with drug store across the street. Cold beer and wine store, part of the hotel, just a few doors down. Earl's and Banana Leaf restaurants nearby were great! The room was not very big, but we had a nice little balcony and sat our there all the time, watching people go by. We were so glad we stayed here and not downtown.

This hotel used to be a Ramada and recently changed to a new name of Park Plaza. While it states "downtown Vancouver", it's technically not downtown. The street that it is on - West Broadway - is considered a "second downtown" in Vancouver.
It's recently renovated as well. The building faces West Broadway, mentioned above, which has some very busy traffic at all hours. This side also affords the best view of the city if you get a room that is high enough, although the back side is quieter.
There's not much tourist-wise nearby the hotel, although downtown is easily accessible by bus or car. It's also not the most frequented area by tourists, so you may feel out of place. There are also some homeless people that hang out in this area.
Lots of restaurants nearby though for breakfast, lunch and dinner. This hotel would be best for business travelers not looking for a tourist location.

Excellent
This hotel is in a convenient location and has a fantastic view of the city, mountains and water. We chose the location because it was close to VGH but loved all the restaurants in the area and the walk to Granville Island. Staff were great, rooms...
