Unless changes have been made in the last five days, the hot tub is inoperable and has been for at least five years. The "wireless internet" is available only in the offices and three rooms close to the office, and is down more often than it is up. The restaurant does not provide room service.
The "Kitchenette" for standard rooms is defined as a mini-fridge and microwave; the hotel does have Executive Suites, which are well maintained, two bedroom suites with living room and full kitchen. However, the standard rooms are not well maintained. Strong odors of mold and mildew pervade the rooms, bathroom heaters do not work, and the tubs and fixtures are old.
The front desk staff is unable to deal with complaints regarding maintenance or equipment failures (broken TV's and the like). Most staff members treat guests as though they were unwelcome annoyances rather than paying customers.
Some room doors do not lock securely. Plumbing problems are a common occurrence, and repair requests are treated as low priority. The last "renovation" was three years ago and consisted of replacing carpet in the executive suites and moving the recovered carpet into older rooms, section by section, with each older section receiving carpet salvaged from newer sections.
The hotel restaurant has, in recent years, gone through many management changes and extended periods when it was closed. The furniture in the standard rooms is sub-par. Vinyl covered chairs in one room were heavily cracked and torn, in the same room there were missing patches of carpet as well as missing handles on the dressers.
The televisions are old, the phone system is ancient and has a very poor voice quality especially considering that the hotel charges for local calls and requires a $5.00 phone deposit.
The pool is small for a hotel pool, and because of overhanging trees requires cleaning more often than it should. Pool maintenance is not performed as often as necessary, and the hotel tends to open the pool later in the season than most others, and to close it earlier.
The hotel itself is a decent property, but is badly in need of major repairs, proper management and maintenance. You can tell that the hotel was once a really nice, up scale property prior to the neglect it has suffered under its current management. Most of the staff would need to be replaced or re-educated in guest relations.
