50 year old with a luxury budget, traveling for business
This hotel is actually a convention center and golf course hotel. The hotel is geared towards that, rather than the business traveller. Check in was smooth. staff was very friendly, put me in a corner room because I told them I needed to rest so I could work at the client site during the day. However, no parking for hotel guests separate from convention attendees makes for long walks. $12/night valet parking is not a correct substitute for reserved parking for hotel guests. The views from the rooms are outstanding, the corner room that I had had a nice balcony. The room decor and design is very nice, but the walls are paper thin and you can hear everything, particularly the incredibly loud toilets. Yes, the toilets are unbelievably loud when flushed, because the water pressure is extremely high and no pressure restriction device is installed. You can hear toilets flushing all around you. The carpet in the closet next to the bathroom was soaked during my entire stay, apparently some kind of leak. The cleaning lady took away my soap every day when I left it in the shower with my other shower items. Weird, must be a culture thing. I tried to go to the hotel restaurant but there is only one, it's buffet style and was more like an overcrowded ranch than a restaurant. They wanted me to pay more than $50 for a buffet in an extremely loud room with tons of people crowding around the buffets. Sorry, I'd rather drive and eat someplace where I can enjoy my food in peace. The checkout process was smooth. The location is good for where I was going to work. It is centric and just 20 miles from downtown LA, maybe 30 minutes from LAX.
