It was a good room in a good location.

It was ok, but I thought the rooms could have been a little bigger and a little cleaner.

I should have known that when poolside rooms were available on a busy weekend, that this place would be a dive! The parking lot is dangerously steep and was wet from the rain. Elderly people could easily break a bone. The pool is much smaller than the picture makes it out to be and the hot tub is just that, a tub of hot water, no jets. They ask for a $2.50 deposit for each beach towel. The metal handle on our room door gave us a good jolt of electricity each time we opened it if we were wet. That was not good for a six year old! The room had a terrible musty/chemical smell which became worse when heater was turned on. The person at the desk said it was because beds were treated after bed bug scare. The air was barely breathable in the Sleepy Bear Den.

The final straw was when we woke up the following morning and staff members were smoking in the enclosed pool area instead of stepping outside. Gross! I had to get my grandson with asthma out of there. I was surprised that they didn't give me a hard time when I asked to have second night refunded. Perhaps it was because they were too busy stuffing their faces with morning donuts or maybe because they are used to people asking for refunds. They were friendly people, but they were very unprofessional! I packed up and went a couple of doors down to La Quinta. Spend your hard earned money elsewhere!

This is our third stay there, and the stay was very good. The service is good and the people that we dealt with were courteous, and helpful. The only flaw was no ashtray in a smoking designated room. And that was considered minor and was corrected.

This hotel made me feel welcome: They had my reservation ready and complete and the room was available.
