Do not purchase a timeshare here. 5 years or more ago it was excellent, but the service is declining fast. The lower level management tells the upper level management what they want to hear and everyone goes on perfectly with that.

If there is a huge complaint then an email is sent out to fix the complaint.

This resort has outgrown its guests and the service has not moved with the pace. I have posted my complaints in detail on my website orangelakeresortcomplaints.com

with a budget, traveling for leisure

Just returned Oct. 12th. Has gotten much better over the years and always happy to return... with or without the kids. People need to remember this is Florida, so crouds can always be hit or miss, which is why we always go in the off season. I didn't notice any p-ing or moaning about the over-crowded(and way over-priced) parks, but I'm sure it was all relative. As far as security goes, my wife and brother-in-law went down a few days early a couple years ago, and my then 3 year old naked daughter slipped out of one of the ground level units and disappeared. Within 10 minutes(which seemed like an eternity), one of the security vans returned her to us wrapped in towels. The response and concern of their staff will never be forgotten. Also remember this is a timeshare resort... keyword "share". As timeshares are concerned, this is a beautiful resort that constantly updates and tries to improve itself and we are proud to call ourselves owners. Considering buying another resale to give us even more flexibility. Cpme down, grab a drink, pick a pool, and enjoy.

I am very likely to return to the Orange Lake Country Club.
I would definitely recommend it to friends.

with a budget, traveling for leisure

North Village Room 3711 infested with bed bugs. My family and I noticed them when we finally decided to call in the night around 11:30. The place was hopping with them.

The night time managers came by, verified our complaint and gave us a new room 3734. We didn't feel comfortable with the room because of our initial experience and when we finally decided to lie down we saw another one. Hey maybe we transported it from one spot to the next (IDK). We slept in chairs in the living space away from the bedrooms. So uncomfortable!!!.

The following morning a new management staff was on board and basically dismissed our claim but was willing to do whatever was necessary to make us comfortable except refund our money or send us back home. We got complimentary tube rentals, 45 dollars in food vouchers, free miniature golfing one other thing. Really.....that hardly compensated for a missed night of sleep and our discomfort.

The place is beautiful but they nickel and dime you plus they act as if you are a blazing idiot by constantly reiterating "Oh this is a world class resort, we have never had a complaint of bed bugs" I guess we really didn't experience the bed bugs. They also implied several times that we could have brought them in. Up until Sunday 8/24/08 I had never seen a bed bug.

A VCR was in our unit....does that make any sense....we don't even own a VCR anymore.

Craig family from Pittsburgh.

I am not likely to return to the Orange Lake Country Club.
I would not recommend it to friends.

44 year old male with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure

my family and i were only going to stay for 2 days then head to a beach for the rest of our vacation but decided to stay as we had friends coming to orlando studios. I called the reservation # on the access key and was told I couldnt stay in that room but was reserved another. When I returned to my room later that evening I called front desk and was assured that I had to check out then back in. We packed all our stuff up and went to check out and found out that I didnt even have a reservation for the remainder 5 days but they took care of that and even kept me in the same room for which I was assured 2 X that I couldnt do! I told the clerk and manager that my room didnt need cleaned and they said it wouldnt. We were all dressed for lazy river and I put our food and some other things in the room but not luggage and saw a change of service outside our door and told the attendant that our room didnt need made and they said I would have to call housekeeping. I called housekeeping several times and got no one and finally left a message at 12:00 that my room didnt need cleaned as I was staying. Got back to room at around 3:30 and access keys didnt work and I feared the worst. Went to front desk and spoke to the manager who took care of me and I asked him to check to see if the room was cleaned. He said it wasnt. Upon entering my room it had been cleaned and all our food and other things (disney items, etc.) were gone. I called front desk and was told someone would call me back and I went there myself and was told SORRY and that I had to repurchase all the items and bring them the receipt. I had the receipts and didnt understand why I had to repurchase them and he told me policy. Upon returning with another receipt from publix but not disney (because I couldnt repurchase disney items unless they were going to pay my way in and parking) I hadto explain everything again to another manager (shift change) and then was taken to an office and had to explain again!!!! I was told they didnt know why they made me repurchase the items since I had the receipt but was going to be reimbursed at check out. I was reimbursed at checkout but not totally. I had spent over $2000.00 to stay for a week and all they would repeatedly say was sorry! I was never offered a voucher or any compensation for the day I spent running around so I could get reimbursed. But, if you take their tour you get compenstated. I called the hotel after I got home and was assured that I would be contacted and am still WAITING!!!!! So, beware of Orange Lake!!

We were smooth talked into buying this deal and shown all kinds of resale data about how the timeshare retains its value etc. The first time we used it, we met a couple at the pool who said if we had said no, the salesman would have offered the same deal for 1/2 the price. we paid 16,000 for our timeshare and our maintenance went up from under 300 to 700. in four years!

Ask them to help you sell it??? I told them they could keep my money and have it back for free and they wouldn't do it. Why would they?? I still owe 10,000 after 5 years and they get 700.00 a year from me. I can never get a decent deal on trading through RCI because they claim I need to book a year in advance, so whenever I've traded, we got a 1 or two bedroom. I regret the day I ever walked into Orange Lakes Country Club. I would have done a lot better staying at the Holiday Inn family Suites at lake Buena Vista for the 1 week a year we get away. Anyone want to buy one???

46 year old male with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure

I have been an owner for about 13 years. I said then, and now, that OLCC has the potential to be first class, but they routinely and consistently resort to underhanded, cheap and second-class methods for everything they do. It takes more that showing pictures of what a great place can be; it takes committed staff, with people of integrity, which has always been a problem here. I regret the day I became involved with Orange Lake. I have been trying desperately to sell my unit. I paid over $13k and am looking to sell it for $2500. That's it. It's not worth it to be tied in to a relationship with unexperienced, unprofessional, cheap and ill-informed staff. Too bad. You could have had it all.
