It is in a great location with friendly staff who was always helpful. I have stayed at On the Avenue hotel repeatedly during trips to New York, and I would do so again.

This hotel made me feel hip: On the Avenue hotel has a modern feel with staff members who are knowledgeable about New York, its sites and the hip things to do while in town.

The hotel is located close to a subway station and within walking distance of some great restaurants (although what's not in New York). The staff was very friendly. The beds are very comfortable and the showers are nice.

On the Avenue is located in a prime location on the Upper West Side in New York City -- next to the famous gourmet store Zabars, the Beacon Theater, and a vast assortment of shops and restaurants. The rooms were cosy and well-kept, but small (living like a true New Yorker!) although the bathrooms were quite nice with inlaid marble tile and good water pressure in the shower. The rooms are quiet -- you will not hear a peep from your neighbors. There is a balcony on the sixteenth floor that is simply breathtaking; make sure to visit it, and, if possible, to get a room that faces the city if you are on the eighth floor or above. Room service is pricy and there is no bar or restaurant in the hotel; however, there are plenty of options within a couple of blocks, and it's better to get out and explore the neighborhood anyway.
