On the Ave Hotel

The hotel was very nice. The doormen were very helpful. The location was convenient. I overheard someone complaining about them messing up their reservation but I did not experience any problems. I wish I could have opened the windows in my room.

I stayed here last week. The price of the exact same room was $200 more than last year. In the morning, when I was preparing for my first meeting, the toilet overflowed and flooded the bathroom floor. I called housekeeping three times for help. 25 minutes later a man arrived with plastic gloves on. He returned with a plunger. The toilet was not operational after he left. I requested late departure no charge and it was granted,

however, after repeated requests that the toilet be taken care of, I checked out at 4:30 pm. the toilet was never operational and I was unable to reschedule the meetings that I came into town for. My friend had to use the men's room in the lobby. The experience was such a disappointment compared to last year. I have been assured that I will be compensated, but so far, no one is doing a thing.

My wife and I stayed here for our honeymoon and received outstanding service from the doormen, concierges, and cleaning crew. They answered any questions we had, at any time, and were always quick to help in any way. Our corner room had four windows which provided us with picturesque views of the buildings to the north and west, the streets below, and of the great weather which accompanied our visit. The bathroom was outfitted in an understated way (marble, granite, stainless steel) but wasn't cold or uninviting. In the bedroom itself, the dark wood desk, two comfortable arm chairs, large flat panel TV, and enveloping king-size bed were wonderful to come home to after a long day out on the town. We eagerly look forward to coming back on our anniversary.

It is in a great location with friendly staff who was always helpful. I have stayed at On the Avenue hotel repeatedly during trips to New York, and I would do so again.

This hotel made me feel hip: On the Avenue hotel has a modern feel with staff members who are knowledgeable about New York, its sites and the hip things to do while in town.
