46 year old man with a luxury budget, traveling for leisure

I stayed in this hotel for the first time this weekend (6/28/08) and was very disappointed in the value. I travel extensively and have an excellent knowledge and appreciation of hotel costs and amenities. The Charlotte Omni Hotel is definitely not a four star hotel. The pool is very small and low end, good for nothing more than to get wet, and the pool area is dirty and low end as well. The fitness center is small and low end, with some cardio equipment and some very minimal and low end weight equipment -- some dumb bells and a single flimsy bench that could barely hold my 200 pounds. The fitness room offered towels and bottled water, which was nice. The elevators require your room key to be entered to get to any guest floor, but there is only a card reader on one side of the elevator, causing people to jam in front of each other trying to get to it, and the reader does not work well, causing delays and frustration from guests trying to get to their rooms. Each elevator ride included someone's card not working and many people missing their floor or holding up the elevator. I had to try my card 2-3 times each time to get it to take me to my floor. At least it was a conversation topic for small talk as everyone tried their cards repeatedly. The lobby and halls are so-so, clean, but with very cheap accessories that remind me of a low end hotel trying to look nice. The room was small but the beds and linens were nice and the room was clean. The beds were the only decent thing about the hotel. The bathroom had only a tub, a single small sink, and a toilet. There was no vanity or counter and nowhere to put anything down except to try and balance it on the small sloped sink or back of the toilet. During my shower I placed a beer on the back of the toilet and everything was so cramped that I knocked my full beer onto the floor when grabbing my towel and made a huge mess. I was aggravated at the low end bathroom with no place to put anything down. In the evening they turn down your bed and bring chocolate chip cookies and milk, but the cookies were a bit stale and they didn't bring enough for each person in my party (me and my two daughters). My hotel package was supposed to come with two breakfasts but I had nothing to show this and wound up spending a good bit of time going between hotel employees trying to resolve this, which I finally did after some aggravation. The cost of the hotel room was well beyond what I am used to paying in much nicer hotels in more exclusive cities (i.e. San Francisco, New Orleans). In sum, for a smaller city like Charlotte I was shocked at the high price I paid for such an average to low-end hotel. I'm not especially picky, but felt ripped off in this place and didn't have the more luxurious, relaxing day I was expecting. The hotel itself is in a good location for clubs and restaurants but I'm guessing there are other hotels in the same area that are nicer and better priced.

40 year old woman with a luxury budget, traveling for leisure

Some Girlfriends and I wanted to have a girls weekend in downtown Charlotte with the spas, and fine dinning. I made a reservation and specifically stated that we needed a suite. When I arrived there. the manager informed me that there were no Suites available. and that this hotel was for Business Class people only.and that the Suites are never used. Hello!! someone should have told me before we even went to this Hotel. can you imagine this cramped up Hotel room with 4 Ladies. Then amount of money that you on these rooms is not worth it. you can barely turn around in the Bathroom, the rooms smelled stale and the furniture and TV's are outdated. The bed post were leaning to the side. I just think I got a really bad deal. we were not happy at all. I will never stay in this Hotel ever again

Though the hotel was nice, I was glad we booked for a more reasonable rate. The room service was excellent, and the best was very comfortable. I would stay here again.

I am very likely to return to the Omni Charlotte Hotel.
I would definitely recommend it to friends.

This Omni left me very dissapointed. The only reason I am going back is because they have a special rate for my customer's customer, but that's it. The "business center" is an almost hidden, small room with poor lighting and a pay as you go computer. If you want to connect your notebook, you pay. Want to use the computer, you pay. Want to just print something? $2 a page! This is by far the worst hotel Omni when it comes to friendliness towards business travelers. The room was mediocre, the bed was comfortable but the entire facility is showing its age and seems overdue for a renovation. The staff was very courteous and helpful, and refunded some charges that I thought were out of line. I complained to Omni and the hotel's manager called me at home in response, said he agreed with me and they were working to correct the issues. I felt like he was being honest, which is the only other reason I will go back this coming week (that and I can't find any hotels in Charlotte with better reviews.)

I am somewhat likely to return to the Omni Charlotte Hotel.
I might recommend it to friends.

I loved everything. The staff was terrific. I had multiple problems with the key card and the staff was super patient. The room service was outstanding and I loved the little touches, like fresh flowers on the tray every morning. They provided great service.

This hotel made me feel content: The place was safe, friendly and I never experienced an unfulfilled request.

I am somewhat likely to return to the Omni Charlotte Hotel.
I would definitely recommend it to friends.
