Omni Ambassador East Hotel

The shower required 20-30 minutes of running in order to warm up to a lukewarm temperature. When I complained to management the response was 'it an old building and you are on the 13th floor, it takes a while for water to get there'. While I understand the challenges of old buildings, the poor infrastructure in this hotel was unacceptable.

Overall the hotel was a little worse for wear. The service was also poor. The room was booked at discounted conference rates and master billed and then our credit card was charged the normal rate - they double billed us.

Also, this website says its an Omni hotel. It is most definitely not an Omni.

The staff was friendly, and very service oriented. I particularly enjoyed the location in a residential neighborhood that was within easy walking distance to the Lake, and many restaurants. Public and private transportation was easily accessible. The Pump Room was a delight with its rich history and weekend jazz.

It was nice and I really enjoyed my stay here.

This is a beautifully decorated, first rate hotel. The staff was courteous and helpful.

This hotel made me feel comfortable: The room was very good, with a comfortable bed and very clean. The morning newspaper at the door was a nice touch.

The Ambassador is just far enough out of the trendy hotel neighborhood to keep the prices reasonable, and because some of their rooms are still be available when others are not. It's just far enough out, but not too far, as it is still in the heart of a great area for bars, restaurants, theaters, and shops, on one of the most upscale residential blocks in Chicago. The staff is always there when you need them, but never intrusive, and the rooms, while not 'space-age', are as modern as I'll ever need.
