Old Faithful Snow Lodge was designed by Robert Remmer and opened on July 8, 1998 after winter tourism became popular. It offers all the amenities of a superb restaurant, grill, gift shop, clothing and equipment rental store, and library. A fireplace with rocking chairs makes the lobby a comfortable place to read about Old Faithful geyser a few yards away. Wooden beams and yellow lamps trimmed in copper bear and elk images add to the restful ambiance. An abundance of maps and brochures are available at the nearby Visitor Information Center.
The Snow Lodge is the only hotel open year-round at Yellowstone. It has 54 guest rooms with comfortable beds, a bathroom and dressing room.
There is no television, radio, computer or cell phone service, but games and puzzles are available. The hotel is managed by Xanterra Parks and Recreation and the park rangers. Guided team of snowcoaches and snowmobiles are dispatched here. During a recent blizzard, Xanterra contacted all visitors in the park by radio and safely brought them in. Old Faithful Snow Lodge is a modern world-class hotel
