I booked this hotel for 7 nights through a travel company, on arrival my heart sank due to the smell of perfume to cover the musty smell, then the elevator did not work so we had to carry our suit cases up 2 levels, the carpet on the stairs was old...

Scary that this has 3 stars!. We received bad directions from the staff at the hotel and ended up in a VERY bad area of Miami. WHen we arrived we received no apology and a DIRTY room on the 1st floor where people down the hall were yelling and running. The room was so nasty that I wouldn't sleep using the blankets and put socks on so my feet wouldn't touch the carpeting. The old nasty phone in the room had fuzzy dust between all the buttons as though no one had ever taken the time to wipe between them. There was gum on the concrete floors and when we tried to check out, we were ignored by one desk agaent on a personal call. Trust me, stay away!
I am not likely
to return to the Ocean Surf Hotel.
I would not recommend it to friends.
this hotel was not at all what i expected. one site said it had a pool... it didn't. the rooms were extrememly small. and it didn't have half the amenities it said it did. also are keys rarely worked. the alarm clock/radio didn't work and they...
Just okay! Not too good, but not the worst.

Okay
This hotel in North Miami location is kinda far from the action in South Miami. The location is okay if you have a car. Not the cleanest hotel I have stayed in, but at least I did not see any bugs. Although the price is not low, the price is on the...
The only good thing about this place is that its literally across from the beach!. The hotel is very old. The elevators and hallways were dirty and smelled damp, beds were very old. my sister found a hair on her pillow.. how disgusting!! Do not...

The rooms are very dirty. The comforter I am sure has never been washed. The hotel lobby has lots of mosquitoes. The TV does not work well.
The service is bad. Make sure that you are actullay buying the correct tickects if you are buying them from the hotel. We were sold two bus tickets and the whole time we were given the impression that they were for cruise. We lost $50 in the process.
I would rate this hotel very very low and don't think will ever consider staying there again.

I wasn't expecting a lavish hotel room for $65/night but I got what I paid for and was pleased overall. The room was OK sized and fairly clean but the remote control was attahced to one of the night stands which was a bit of a pain. Some of the people at the front desk were not very helpful while others were very nice - if you need something, make sure to ask several different people (annoying I know). They wanted to charge me at the end of my stay and even had credit card information which wasn't mine; very strange. I also had aproblems with my room key way too often; luckily my room was on the 1st floor!. We usually found meter parking within 2 short blocks from the hotel/beach so that wasn't a problem. Aside from the hotel, the beach area is nice but don't be surprised to see homeless people scattered about. It was a bit creepy at first but thankfully they were harmless. I stayed for 6 nights and do not regret my choice of hotel.

I treated my elderly mom to an overnight trip to Miami Beach. The Ocean Surf Hotel was not an eye-popper, but for $60 I didn't expect it to be. The staff was courteous and helpful. Because the room was ready, we were permitted to check-in well before check-in time. The room, furnishings and linens were neat and clean. The bathroom was large. The continental breakfast was simple (coffee, tea & sweetbreads) but tasty. The location was excellent -- on a quiet street with nothing but the street between us and the beach. The art deco style was fun. The 24 hour parking pass ($6) for use of metered parking was convenient. If I'm in that area in the future, I'd almost certainly stay again.
it is not the cleaness hotel i've been to. the maintenance personnel isn't the greatest. the first day i got there, our room wasn't even prepared for us. the receptionist isn't a big help neither. i would have thought that they would be a little...
