OHANA Waikiki West Hotel

During our 2 week stay, we found friendly staff and warm sunny weather. The hotel is in desparate need of overall room walls & floor cleaning, some carpet & cabinet replacements as some are falling apart, plumbing needs work and general facade upgrades. We moved rooms once because the original room was dirty and smelly, and construction on the floor above started at 8am with drilling and hammering, lots of noise.

Just returned back to MN from a 4 week stay at Ohana West. Had a City View kitchenette room which was great. Being on front of building was noisy especially at night but watching all the activity was exciting. The staff was good and informative. The room was kept clean each day and staff again very friendly. Our maid told us to "come back again next year". We made use of free phone calls and rode the free 'pink' trolley every day. This was great! All in all I sure would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting an economical, close to beach and activities place to stay.

The hotel was nice and clean. Our room was big enough and the view of the Market Place was great. The staff was nice too. We are kamaaina from the U.S. so we blended in.

Don't hesitate to book at this place. Not bad for the money. Oh, the shower was small but it was fine. One person at a time though.

We will be back again.

We stayed at the Ohana West Waikiki for a week early December 2007. We found it to have a bit of the character of Honolulu's boom years and as you might expect its slightly dated. Our room was on the 15th floor, elevator service was not an issue as some have stated. There was a king size bed which was comfy but took most of the floor space. We heard the roof air conditioning very clearly with the window open and would suggest reserving a room lower in the building and in the south wing; but it was okay when the windows were shut. The bathroom could have been a bit cleaner around the base of the shower door but otherwise it was clean. The staff were very polite and helpful in general and quite responsive. The air conditioning worked just fine although it left a few drips on the carpet. This is a middle of the line hotel - akin to european tourist class, so you have to expect a few worn edges given the price. If we were to stay again, I'd ask for a room with a couple of easy chairs. The complimentary trolley pass came in very handy to get to the Ala Mauna shopping center where all the transit buses come and go. Nice central location - inexpensive restaurants all around. A good lower -middle level hotel for a Waikiki experience.

This is a moderately priced hotel and I am definitely always on a budget being a single mom of "3". We had a wonderful stay and the staff, especially housekeeping, were more than accommodating. The hotel is in the heart of Waikiki and not too far to walk to the beach.

The room we booked had a kitchenette, which made it easier for feeding the gang. It is an older property, but the rooms are clean and kept in good condition.

The hotel also offers free trolley rides on the pink line to get around in the Waikiki area, free local and long distance calls and a coupon book for discounts in the area. I was told "OHANA" meant "FAMILY" and we sure felt the Aloha Spirit at all levels. My ohana and I will be back.
