Novotel Ottawa Hotel

This is yet another hotel I stayed in Ottawa during work visit. You don't need to worry one little bit about the location. Right in downtown ottawa, walkable distance to most important offices / university / tourist spots / parliment / etc. The indoor parking is very good during winter and the hotel is pretty empty most of the time I stayed their. I'm very convinced about this place for travelers too. Tips for travellers: this hotel sometimes comes under priceline's name your own price - use it - get a great price for a standard room. This hotel is also quite from traffic for a downtown location. It's just 10 mins walk to university of ottawa and downtown ottawa offices government offices. Coming to the hotel rooms, the rooms are pretty standard for its star class and most of the time the room allocated to me are clean, good carpet, nice bed, and the hotel staff are courteous.

Even though the hotel room was A+ for the star category and the amenities were ok, the hotel service is terrible. Not only these people messed up my reservation, they are plain rude. The reception staff must definetly take some customer service lessons before coming into this field. Also, the location of the hotel is very good for both vacation and business travel. It's right in the downtown, very near to the famous national arts gallery and rideau center. Parking space was good too. The title says it all to summarize.

I stayed at the Novotel last summer (August 2006) on a business trip. The rooms were very nice, spacious and clean. I had a refrigerator in my room. I had a terrible view of a busy street but the location of the hotel made up for that. The air conditioning worked great. The layout of the hotel was a bit confusing and the elevator was very busy and stairs didn't seem very accessible. I thought the fruit / snacks available for purchase at the front desk were a great idea, though pricey. Great location, right across from some fantastic shopping and within walking distance of some great restaurants! Overall I would definitely recommend this hotel!
