This is a great hotel, considering I've only stayed in two or three others on previous trips to Las Vegas.

I am very likely to return to the New York New York Hotel and Casino.
I would definitely recommend it to friends.

We stayed for free, so it was nice for free. When night came we had to pay, so we switched hotels. The casino is very small and usually crowded, there's not a lot of room to move in. We had a deluxe room which was very nice. I will try something different next time.

I am not likely to return to the New York New York Hotel and Casino.
I would not recommend it to friends.

We stayed at New York New York from 12/17 - 12/21/05 - and was very disappointed with the overall experience that we had.

Prior to booking, I had read online that the roller coaster is noisy. When I booked my reservation, I made a request for a room AWAY from the noise of the rollercoaster. At check-in, I again requested a room AWAY from the roller coaster. I was assured that my "Park Avenue" room on the 14th floor in the New York Tower was very quiet. The room was small and unimpressive. About 15 minutes after settling into my room, I heard a loud "whoosh" and people screaming. I looked out my window to see the roller coaster going right by my window. I called the front desk, and was told I could do a room change in the morning. We could not sleep until the ride closed at about 12:30 am.

After changing to the Century Tower on the 18th, we went to our room on the 24th floor. The "Broadway Deluxe" was bigger and better than the last one, and, it was a free upgrade from the desk for the previous problems. During the night, at about 3:00 am, we were awoke to the sound of several large "thuds" that shook the bed. We thought someone was physically fighting in the next room. In the morning, I found out that it's a room filled with machines and elevators used by employees.

On the 19th, housekeeping finally arrived at about 5:00 pm to make up the room. We asked them to come back at about 6:00 pm when we would be out of the room for the night. When we got back at 10:30 pm, the room was still not made up. I called "Cindy" in housekeeping and was told they would be 'right up'. We left for a snack and returned at 12:00 am. The room had not been touched. I again called "Cindy" in housekeeping to find out what the problem was. I was again told they would 'be right up.' I told them I was NOT going to wait any longer. I called the front desk, and complained to the night manager.

On the 20th, the room was finally made up, but, the maid took the comforter leaving just sheets and a blanket. At about 4 :00 am, we felt really cold because the comforter was gone. A very nice way to get some good sleep before leaving early to go to the airport at 7:30 am.... NOT !!!

Upon checkout, we told the clerk how our stay with them REALLY was. We were told the manager would be told about it, contact us, and try to "make things right." I used the Spa - very average... a couple of treadmills, bikes, weight machines, and free weights --- nothing to brag about. NYNY looks quite nice on the inside and is a fine place to visit, but NOT to stay. There is no buffet; the America Restaurant was good, the pizza place was bad. The slot machines did not pay out at all ... On a 1-10 scale .... a generous 4. Start spreading the news ...The Luxor is soooo much better.

I am not likely to return to the New York New York Hotel and Casino.
I would not recommend it to friends.

Be careful when checking in. The reservations staff told us we were getting a non-smoking room and then put us into a room that reeked of stale tobacco. It was explained to us that this is their standard policy--they ask whether a guest's "preference" is smoking or non-smoking, and then place them wherever they have room without any pre-warning. Likewise for a "preference" of king-sized bed or two queens.

The staff was universally obnoxious, possibly believing this would make their casino seem more like the real New York, except that I've never been treated so badly in the real New York City even when wearing a Red Sox hat.

They also seemed to encourage the resident Nathan's hot dog restaurant to lower its food service quality to fit in with the rest of their food outlets. The America-themed restaurant was overpriced and offered slow service and mediocre food.

It was a deeply disappointing stay all around.

My take on the NY-NY is that it's the budget alternative for a middle/upper level experience on the Strip. We chose it because the rate we lowest among the handful of casinos we wanted to go to, and they actually had availability at a week's notice.

The staff was pretty helpful in letting me hang out on a lounge chair by the pool after we had checked out because I was (ahem) tired from the night before. The pool had a lot of activity and was better than I expected.

The casino was okay for our group, but nothing too special.

I don't remember much about the room as we were not inside it very much.

I am somewhat likely to return to the New York New York Hotel and Casino.
I might recommend it to friends.

I was very pleased with my stay. I really liked the style of the furniture inside the room. And got a great view from my large window!

Very annoying to have timeshare property promoters stationed in the hotel that constantly bother you during your stay to take a tour for free or discounted show tickets. I'm there to gamble and relax not be hounded. Bad enough you are pestered walking down the street.

There are much better values and hotels in Las Vegas than New York New York. I'll not be staying there again. Rude desk staff and we got ripped off with the in-room tv pay-per-view service. The New York New York sports book sucks.
