This authentic classical hotel is one of the oldest hotels in Japan. An old main building is one of the memorial and historical buildings in Yokohama. The hotel is suitable for leisure travelers looking around Yokohama area and also is recommendable to business travelers who would like to be based in Yokohama area but would like to be in relaxing environment before and after work. (10/05HT) It is composed of two building, the main and New Grand Tower. Both stand facing to Yamashita-Park and connected each other by a corridor inside. But each building has quite different characteristic. The main is a few stories historical landmark and New Grand Tower is a modern, 18-storey building. The hotel is on the best location for sightseeing in Yokohama, facing the bay of Yokohama overlooking Yamashita Park, between Motomachi and Minato-Mirai district. China Town is just two blocks away and other sightssing spots are also within walking distance. It is also convenient to go outside the area. It takes one minute walk from Motomachi Chukagai station on Minatomirai Subway line that directly connects with Yokohama station in 10 minutes, or Shibuya Station in 40 minutes. It takes 15 minutes by car from Yokohama Station.

I stayed a the New Grand in 1968 while on leave from the navy. The hotel was very nice. Prices were about $10.00 a day "u.s." dollars. Great location to all local sites. It is really great looking a the New Grand on the web after 40...
