Our family has a reunion in a different location every year. (10 different families in our group) This year it was my turn to have that tedious task of finding just the right place that everyone would love. Not something I looked forward to, as tryi
I was a part of the family reunion my brother wrote about previously. I wanted to add my 2 cents as we are coming from two different view points. He was right on with saying it was the best reunion spot ever. He has a large family & it did seem per

My husband and I have stayed twice at Mountain Springs and both times we have came away refreshed and rested. Kate, the owner has gone out of her way to accomodate us any way she can. The cabin is always clean, and it is a quiet area. We sat on the porch swing and looked out over the stream which had ducks and geese swimming in it. In the morning, a lovely tabby cat had slept curled in the porch swing in an afghan. This is a place with a nice nostalgic feel about it. Glenda & Adrian

If I've learned one thing on this vacation, it is not to go strictly on what one disgruntled traveler has to say online line.
I was a bit hesitant when I booked my honeymoon stay at Mountain Springs after reading one of the reviews posted.
I saw their website and like what I saw, though if there is anything to complain about, it is that they should spend more money on their web page! It doesn't even get close to doing the place justice. Don't get me wrong, we love the pictures and all the information but it would have been nice to see more photos of their property. It is so unbelievably beautiful and such a gem of a hideaway. If I could have seen more, I probably would have booked it on the spot, without doing more checking.
Our cabin was more of an open space, unlike some of their bigger cabins. We could see the fireplace from our bed at night and we able to leave the window cracked just a bit and listened to the stream till we fell off to sleep.
My husband would loved to have fished that beautiful stream, but knew the honeymoon would be over if he did!
The woman who owns the place, ( she does everything there herself with the help of one other nice lady.) was so helpful getting us geared up with back packs and designed our outings especially to fit our ideas for the perfect honeymoon. She even sent us of on a moonlight picnic at a waterfall with backpack, flashlights, blanket and even tiny candles to set all around. She thought of everything!!!
They had our Biltmore tickets waiting for us as well as printed directions to get there. She had printed directions for just about everything we wanted to do as a matter of fact.
One of the highlights of our stay there was when they set up an evening massage with a wonderful massage therapist right down on the river.
I just want to say that everyone should do their homework when planning a trip, but be careful who you get your information from. If I had let someone who wrote a bad report, for who knows what reason, I might have missed out on a honeymoon that I have always dreamed of.
We found the staff, small that it was, so friendly and so helpful, I don't think that wonderful little hideaway would have been near as special if they had not gone so out of their way (or really, I think it IS THEIR WAY:) to make it so.
I can assure you that Frank and I will be making our reservations there soon to go back to celebrate our anniversary! All I can say is... Got to Mountain Springs and tell them that Sherry and Frank sent you!

Had the most wonderful, relaxing vacation weve had in years! This cabin resort is just a small place with 13 cabins tucked away in the mountains just outside of Asheville and off the Blue Ridge parkway.
They are adorable cabins on about 50 acres of sheer serenity! My husband I needed a break from the real world and found it there. The staff planned almost everyday of our stay from a romantic dinner (without our kids! They got us a sitter who took the kids on a night hike and cookout) to waterfall hikes, golf and shopping. We would have extended our stay, but they were booked. We will go back often!
The cabins were great furnished with antiques from the area. Very clean. We would like to have had another bathroom, but made out just fine.
The kitchen was well equipped for the few meals we cooked in. My husband got to do a little fly fishing, while I red a book in a nearby hammock and the kids played soccer with other children staying there.
There staff is small, but they keep the place beautiful and went out of our way to make sure we had the perfect vacation. Gave the kids duck food to feed their huge flock of ducks and even set up a private bonfire for us one night, then we joined other guests another night for a fire and glass of wine.
Even though they only have a few cabins, they do have an adult section only for when we come back without the children. (And we will!) As well as a few pet friendly cabins that we appreciated that they were not right in the middle of where our cabin was as we left our pooch behind.

Bad customer service has a new champion in Mountain Springs Cabins. My family (with 2 young children) had a reservation for 5 days, which I had changed from earlier dates. Because of a computer glitch or human error, our change in reservation didnt show up on their computer. Despite showing them their own written confirmation of the change, they refused to honor our reservation. Upon discovering the discrepancy, the proprietor was immediately foul-mouthed, without any consideration that the mistake might be hers. Plus, her computer was down, so she had no way of checking.
A half-hour later she apologized and offered us an upgrade on the cabin we had reserved. Three days later, seemingly very distressed over losing money, she recanted her generosity and accused me of doctoring the reservations written confirmation! She demanded we leave or pay more money for the cabin we had already paid for. Both sides called a sheriffs officer in, who told us that Mountain Springs Cabins is essentially a hotel, and therefore, despite evidence of its breach of contract, we had no landlord/tenant legal recourse. Thus the proprietor had a right to kick us off of her property, and my only recourse was a civil suit.
Throughout our experience, Mountain Springs reservation system and check-in procedures were sloppy and unprofessional. For example, the proprietor claimed that they never take reservation change requests over the phone. However, they did in our case and never told us of the policy when we were booking the cabin. Another example: When we arrived, despite introducing myself, the proprietor assumed we were a different family and sent us off down the road to the wrong cabin. When she realized her mistake, she was immediately rude to us, apparently because she had expected our arrival 2 days earlier due to her sloppy reservation system.
Facilities: The creek on the property is nice and the cabins are small but quaint, although poorly maintained. The gas fire place in our cabin never worked, and the toilet over-flowed.
