The much talked about Red Light restaurant featuring famous chef Kris Wessel, is located on the Motel Blu grounds (opening in October, 2007). 44 year old male with a luxury budget, traveling for leisure
The room was clean. The pool and the outside of the building was clean. It looks like a rough neighborhood. I felt safe walking to Wendy's across the street. The motel has cameras and they keep the gates closed at night. Once inside the place I felt perfectly safe. The motel is located next to a gentleman's club called "Black Gold". There is also a Taco Bell across the street and lots of other places within driving distance. There was one water bug which I failed to kill (quick sucker). This is Florida, no big deal. What did annoy me was that there was only 5 channels on TV. One of the channels was HBO. I was told that there was supposed to be more channels and it would be fixed Monday. I left Wednesday and there was still 5 channels. There is no remote control in the room. You have to ask for it and return it when you leave. They have old style shades that roll up and down. If you leave a deposit you can borrow an iron and ironing board and hair dryer. They have free coffee and tea in the morning (nothing to eat). I was satisfied with the service. The staff was helpful and friendly. You only pay $65.00 during the week and $75.00 on the weekends. You get what you pay for. Don't expect to get more than two towels and no wash cloths or floor towels. We got a floor towel the second day and the third day we got wash cloths. I guess if we would have asked we would have got them but we were already prepared and had brought our own. They are doing construction on the street in front of the building but that was a minor inconvenience.
