Motel 6 Youngtown

We were going to an event and looked for a Motel 6 nearby. We have always had good luck with Motel 6.

We did see the review written about the horrible conditions at the motel, but took it with a grain of salt. Well we checked in around 3 pm and by 8 we were at the front desk getting a refund and heading elsewhere. When we pulled back the covers there was a black bug. Think that this could just be one incident but concerned we got our flash light and check the bed and the floor and there were bugs all over. The floor looked as thought it had not been swept and the mattress looked old and tattered.

We were grateful that they gave us our money back, but they did spoil our trip. We left town and headed home. Unless the make some big changes I say stay away from this Motel 6. I will be in contact with the main office. We wasted time and money and missed our event because we were so disgusted. Super Bowl guests, pass this one by.

Having stayed here in March 2006, I decided to stay again on a recent trip in August because it is cheap. It certainly has gone downhill since I last used it.

First off, when I arrived, the desk clerk was smoking outside and didn't come in right away. I booked over the Internet, but noticed their posted rates were cheaper and asked for them and got them reluctantly. The first room I was assigned had the bathroom under repair. There were tools and drywall all over the floor. They then gave me another room. I didn't get any maid service the first day.

On the second day, the maid half completed the bed, leaving the blanket and top cover on top of the TV. She had also taken all of the towels away (even the clean ones) in the bathroom and didn't replace them. The pool was "closed for maintenance", but nobody was ever there working on it. It would have been nice to have the pool as it was 105 degrees every day.

All in all, it was a major disappointment. I didn't expect much, given the rates, but it was just terrible.
