Millennium UN Plaza Hotel

The last time I was there in 2004, I made hotel reservation in advance for a room on the West Tower. When we got there, we were put on the East Tower. Bad choice. Plus, the room smelled terrible. The odor came from the shower curtains. On the 2nd day, I called and complained about it. There was immediate action. The hotel worker replaced the shower curtain.

Otherwise, it was a great experience. Great location, walking distance to most sites, open space, not crowded hotel surroundings.

The concierge was great. Tell Kenzo I appreciate his greeting and help.

The restaurant waitors were friendly with smiling faces and ready to serve your needs. Some of them even recognize me.

The internet connection did not work. The staff was unable to fix it. We changed rooms. The curtains did not function properly. The carpet was worn and it was seamed with duct tape in the hallways. One of the elevators was out of service. The concierge would not schedule a cab ride to the airport stating that there were always cabs available. Subsequently, while trying to depart, the elevator in which I was riding down got stuck for twenty minutes. I nearly missed my flight.

It was twenty minutes before the other passengers and I were freed. I almost missed my flight. It was also expensive.

It was very close to the sites, so my friends and I could walk instead of taking expensive cabs. It had a huge comfortable bed and the staff was willing to change the bedding for my allergies. The concierge got us a cab and gave us directions when asked.

This hotel made me feel respected: The workers held doors, they asked if they could do anything for us and they were very polite even though my friends and I are fairly young. The workers treated us as if we were rich and famous.

Generally, it was fine. I requested a non smoking room with an extra bed. The room was not on smoking, the bed had to be requested after check in and it was provided quickly, though. The internet connection would have been by Ethernet cable if it had worked. The daily charge for internet access was excessive.

This hotel made me feel extravagent: The room was extraordinary, with amazing views.
