The Millennium Biltmore is one of the classic hotels in downtown Los Angeles, which has undergoing a bit of a renaissance thanks to newer attractions such as the funky Disney Concert Hall designed by architect Frank Gehry. This attractive hotel has a massive masonry exterior that fills up the city block and makes its presence felt. Its east side faces Pershing Square, the oldest public park in Los Angeles. The hotel displays “Old World” elegance thanks to its grand 1920’s public spaces decorated with fountains, classical ornamentation, coffered ceilings, murals, and fresh flowers. The check-in process was simple thanks to the cordial staff. Our spacious club-level room had a large bed, sitting area with coffee table and fake fireplace, and the bathroom was nice too. There was a bench seat at the foot of the bed, always a nice touch. Breakfast was served in the club lounge with nice views overlooking the park. The place can fill up with business travelers, so the seating can be scarce as well as the tasty food selections and fresh juice. The elevators can be on the slow side and the hallways are long, but that may be expected in a large older property such as this. The rooms are fine here at the Millennium Biltmore, but definitely save a bit of time to gawk at the magnificent interior and exterior details throughout the property.
