Not so Good. The only really good thing about this hotel was that it was clean adn near where I needed to be. The staff, well the front desk clerk, by the name of Tiffany, was very rude. Becasue of her, I would never stay here again and would not recommend anyone else to stay there either.
I am not likely
to return to the Microtel Inns & Suites Lake Charles.
I would not recommend it to friends.

It was clean and friendly enough. I was traveling on government business and therefore had a limit that I was allowed to spend. When I checked in I was told one price that was just within my spending limit. I was tired and didn't feel like continuing to search if I was able to get something in my range on the first stop. When I went to check out, the bill reflected additional charges for taxes and fees, that put me over my budget. Had I gone to a place that has government rates, I could have found something in my range and there would have been no taxes charged. The lady explained when I asked about it at checkout, that I was really getting a great rate already. However, I stayed at a much nicer hotel the week before and remained within my budget.

I stayed at the Microtel Inn in Lake Charles on Dec. 30, 2006. When I made the reservation I gave a debit card to hold the room and then paid cash when I checked in. On January 2nd I see a charge for $100.57 on my bank statement from this location. When I called and asked about it the manager said, "no ma'am we never charged your card, you need to contact your bank." My bank called them and gave them the authorization codes they used and it became a different story. Now they are telling me that I authorized the person who stayed in the room the night before me to charge the room to my debit card. They can not produce a credit card statement that I signed and I never even gave them my card to swipe. The manager also told me, "they do not mess up credit cards so I had to authorize it." I don't even know who the people were who stayed in that room. They are theives there and refuse to credit me back. I am contacting the governor of LA, the chamber of commerce and the owner of the hotel. Do not stay here.
