Microtel Inn and Suites BWI Airport Hotel - Page 1

We had 2 rooms booked here for an overnight stay. We were goign to spend the day in Baltimore, MD and see an Orioles game that night. After a 5 hour car drive from NY to this hotel we arrived at 12pm and proceeded to the front desk to try to check in early. We were told it was obviously too early to check in and we told them our plns for the day and that we wouldnt be back to check in till 10:30 that night. We were told it wouldnt be a problem since they have plenty of rooms. We went about our day and returned to the hotel at 10:30pm. At the front desk we gave our names and the front desk person Pamela told us they had no rooms for us since guests who had reservations from the weekend decided to stay an extra day. At this time we didnt even receive an apology!! She told us that they had booked us a room at a comparable motel. Once she told me the motel (Red Roof Inn) she booked us in I knew it immediately it was not comparable and i knew the area wasnt great. She argued with me when i told her i knew for a fact they were not comparable in what they offered and price! We were then told our only option was to either stay there or drive home 5 hours at 11pm at night with 3 kids!!! There was no other hotel/motel available so off we went to the Red Roof Inn. Once i returned home i called to get somewhat of a refund and im only getting $50 back on the 2 rooms i booked! I'm still getting scr*wed because the price of the 2 rooms at the Microtel Inn with comp. breakfast and a good neighborhood cost me almost $300 and the cost of 2 rooms at the Red Roof Inn with no breakfast and worried someone would break into our room cost $150 plus gas since it put us further away. I'm told that they dont really owe me any compensation since i took the offer of staying at the Red Roof Inn but like i said earlier I had no other options. In my opinion the staff at this hotel could have been a bit more comapssionate and helpful. They were neither. Oh and btw, we were not the only people who had this problem that night. Once we got to the other motel, we found other "stranded" Microtel Guests trying to check into the Red Roof Inn with the same problem as us.

I asked three times to have the mold removed from the walls in the bath tub. Nothing was ever done.

We were only in this hotel for 6 hours, so all we needed was a clean room with 2 beds and a shower. I can't tell you how impressed we were with the staff! We worked with 3 different front desk staff and ALL were very friendly and helpful. Shuttle drivers were fast and extremely accommodating. (they even helped recover pajamas that my daughter left in the room!) Free hot breakfast saved us money and another trip when we were in a hurry.

This is not a fancy hotel, but the rooms were clean and it was very convenient to take the shuttle to and from BWI airport.

The front office staff was very helpful and patient with all requests. Maintenance responded promptly for all needs addressed. Room was clean, but I am a perfectionist when it comes to the bathroom. I saw evident for a need to treat the bathtub grout for mold/mildew. Otherwise, this is an excellent place to be for the price.

I liked very much being able to leave our vehicle parked there until we returned from our trip at a reasonable rate.
