We stayed at this Microtel Inn on June 9th 2007.
The continental breakfast was a big disappointment. It was supposed to be available until 10:00 AM; we arrived at about 9:15 and it was nearly depleted. There was cream cheese, but no bagels. The only fruit left was three sad looking oranges. Fortunately, there was a couple cups of waffle batter left and we had waffles, but all in all, it was a pretty pitiful breakfast. Also, there was some cereal that looked like Cheerios, however, the container of milk had apparently been setting out for quite some time and was practically room temperature. Not very appetizing.
The only other complaint that we had is the strong textile/chemical smell in the hallways and in the room, probably from the new carpeting or maybe some kind of chemical cleaner that was used. We had to open the window in the room to let it air out. Once we did that, the smell dissipated and our stay was quite pleasant.
Microtel, overall, is a good value, even considering the mediocre continental breakfast. It was definitely no-frills, but the staff at front desk was friendly and accommodating. The room was clean, the bed comfortable, it was quiet and we felt safe while there. We may stay at a Microtel Inn again and hope for a more satisfying continental breakfast.
