This is my favorite place to stay in Miami because there is always interesting people there to meet. Its fun to spend time in the lobby chatting with other foriegners. I stay at the hotel 4 or 5 times a year when I'm in the US for business. I ...

I was looking for a cheap hotel to stay at while I was looking to move to Miami. The Miami Sun Hotel was what I needed. The room was inexpensive perfect for my small budget. Really simple rooms. Clean but nothing deluxe. They had a weekly special of Pay 5 nights in advance and get 2 FREE. There are nicer hotels in the area but also much more expensive. The Holiday Inn just a few blocks away was over 3 times more. If money is tight I would recommend staying at the Miami Sun Hotel.
I will never go back again!!

Horrible
My sister and I went to Miami Sun because we wanted a cheap place to stay. We def got what we paid for. The lobby looked nice and modern but the hallways smelled so bad and the elevator was scary!! It sounded like it was going to fall at any moment. ...

Roach traps behind every piece of furniture
Dead bugs behind half the furniture
Lop-sided, molded sink.
SMALL
Shower can't fit anyone over 170. No joke.
Shower water trickles like standing under a pee stream.
We requested more blankets. Someone told the cleaning lady to give us another blanket so she took a dirty one off the top of her laundry basket and handed it to us.
The woman at the desk was nice and chatty, but didn't compensate for the rooms.
The little cafe is very reasonable. That's the only good thing.

If you want to read a horror story keep reading my review. This place is a roach motel. This is the worse Hotel I have ever seen; I can't understand why the city of Miami would allow it to remain open.
I needed to stay for a week on business in downtown Miami, so I start looking for a simple hotel where I can spend the nights since the most of the days I would be working. I found the Miami Sun hotel by a search on Google maps. I read the reviews and it sounded fine for my purpose.
The first indication was that they do not have an email on their website. I called them and ask them the rate. At that time they told me that it was USD60 per night and they told me to send them a copy of my driver license and my credit card with the sign form that they have in their website. They told me that there was no other way to reserve.
When we got there they told me that the rate was different and they increased the last to days of the reservation to a USD100. Later they ask for a $5 deposit for the keys (any hotel give the key if you lost it you pay after you loose it). As soon we got in the elevator we smelled to filth. The room was a little rat hole. The A/C control basically consists on plugging a window unit on the only working outlet on the room. The shower was a 3 by 3 feet leaky hole cover on dirt. Even the toilet seat was not working.
Since it was late we decided to stay for a night meanwhile we were able to book a room in another hotel. The TV set basically received two local channels and it was not working properly. The worst was when I went to bed and discover that the bed sheets were dirty.
I went to the front desk to ask them how to make a local call and they ask me for a $10 deposit. I told the night manager about the room situation and he basically was more interested on playing games on his computer than to help me to move to another room.
Next day we went to look for another hotel but all of them were full. So we stayed another night. Finally a room cleared on a near by hotel and we went to do the check out. I explained the day manager about the situation and she told me that anyway they will not refund my card that I needed to pay the full amount because that is hotel policy. Even in the worst hotels if you do not stay then charge you 50% of the room. They did not even want to give me back my deposits until I needed to insist really strongly.
My guess is that they do this with everybody that puts a foot on the hotel that is why they ask you for your credit card information. Please do make the same mistake that I did by even considering to stay in the place.

I booked it through hotwire. I cannot believe this is a hotel. The bed was on plywood and the mattress was urine soaked, not something that looked like urine; it was urine. Anyway, it seemed like a hotel where prostitutes go to shoot up and then hook up with Johns. I literally spent 5 minutes in the hotel room before I left. The last 3 minutes I spent marvelling at how this place could be in business. Please, please, please, please stay away. The only way I would recommend this hotel is if you are doing a TV show on the worst hotels in business!
I thought it was great. The hotel is just down the street from five night clubs. Its also walking distance to just about any kind of food you can think of. The room was fine. It was clean and quiet. I usually came back at 4 or 5 in the morning...

I checked out a few other hotels in downtown but this one was by far the cheapest. And the room was good. It did not have internet access but there were several internet cafes close by. The restaurant served great food for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I would come back...
It may be close to everything downtown but it isn't worth it. It's very dirty. I left and drove 5 miles farther for less money and 200% cleaner. Do not stay there. CW.
I have stayed there a couple of times before and found it affordable. This yr I called up and was surprised to note that the prices had been increased though I still booked, On my arrival I hwever decided to go to a cheaper hotel on Miami Beach and...
