This is an older hotel but it was clean. The staff were nice. It across from the ocean. They gave me a free upgrade. When I read the reviews and was scared. Once there, we had a great time. It is not a five star hotel but very comfortable. I would stay again.
Like most of the reviews, my husband and I were very unhappy with our room. We should have taken the hint when we only saw one other guest there all weekend. The carpet was dirty, the hook was missing on the bathroom door, no handle on the desk...
Not under any circumstances should you stay here

Horrible
This is the epitomy of the word “dump.” We stuck it out for two days because you could walk to the beach, but the conditions became more and more evident with each hour. We were willing to live with no maintenace (cabinet knobs...

The Metrolpolitan Hotel HHI is by far the most disgusting hotel on Hilton Head.
Not only does it stink when you first walk in but the grounds look like a trash truck just dropped his load. I was appauled by the lack of concern by the staff. My good advise would be to stay anywhere other than the Metropolitan "Trash dump" hotel if you want to enjoy your stay on HHI.

I was looking to take my daughters on an inexpensive beach vacation. Since the price of gas is outrageous and HHI is only 5 hours away from us, I decided to check out the Metropolitan Hotel. I booked through Priceline for $65 per night (Thurs-Sun) Our room was roomy with a microwave and refrigerator. It was clean and the beds were comfortable. There was a complimentary continental breakfast, though very limited from 7-9am daily, so I was able to take breakfast back to the room for the girls to have when they woke up. There is a short walk to the beach. This is not a beach front property. If you like brousing the gift shops, there are all kinds of shops about a mile away at Coligny Circle. There is a clean pool and and a small business center with a computer so that you can check your email (or myspace.com in my daughters' case) with a 20 min. time limit. On the downside, parking spaces were limited on the weekend so I had to park a distance away on Fri. and Sat. night...but it was within walking distance. The balconies were small, which was no big deal for us. We only hung our beach towels out there to dry. The lighting in our room was a little dim and the maid service only provided us with 3 towels daily. There was 4 of us so I had to go ask for extra towels each day. I would recommend this hotel to anyone on a budget. Do not expect the Hilton or even the Holiday Inn because it is certainly not that. But you will get a clean hotel that is near the beach at a low rate.

Mediocre
I rate my motels on how comfortable the beds are. These were very wiggly with no support to them.
Our room door would not lock because the battery was dead in the lock mechanism. We reported it, and it was fixed in 30 minutes. There was no ice...

This is the worst hotel I've ever stayed at. I would not stay here again. Parking is bad, only 1 ice machine for 5 floors. We stayed on the 4th floor and the ice machine is on the 3rd floor. half of time it didn't even work. Room had a bad smell....
