It takes your breath away. Mountains embrace ocean in a spiritual accord of natural wonders. Panoramic views prevail, the legacy of residents determined to preserve a skyline money can't buy. It is in to be out. Outside walking along the Stanley Park seawall, skiing day or night on Grouse or Seymour Mountains, biking through old growth trails of Pacific Spirit Park, sailing on English Bay, shopping at the Granville Island public market. Here play inspires work, encouraging innovation and daring daydreams to come true. This picture-perfect setting deserves a picture-perfect hub that encourages these outside pleasures. Yet offers a refuge from the non-stop pace of every day - a place to rest and strategize far from the noise, yet always within a modem's reach. Welcome to life at the Metropolitan.

The Metropolitan Vancouver is situated in the heart of Vancouver's entertainment, shopping and financial districts and is within walking distance to Stanley Park, Gastown, Robson Street shops, restaurants and cruise ship terminals. The rooms are clean and comfortable although quite dated. There are some great health club facilities which include heated indoor pool, jacuzzi, sauna, steam room and fitness centre. The hotel restaurant, Diva at the Met, comes well recommended by many visitors and it really is delicious and the staff are friendly and attentive. All the staff here are pleasant and happy to help you with anything. Although some people feel that the hotel has a dated atmosphere, it's clean, comfortable, in a great location and has great staff.

This hotel was a great experience and I highly recommend it. I got to stay cheap because there was construction next door, but it never bothered me once. A great deal. The people were all nice and helpful: I lost my glasses, they found and brought...

In my opinion, what separates good hotels from great hotels is the attention to details. The Metropolitan excelled in this area - from putting in fresh linens after we had showered and went out that...

It was a great location. It had beautiful, modern, comfortable rooms. You must research ahead of time about what you would like to do while there, so the concierge can better serve you.
They have twenty four hour doorman and room locks.
I am very likely
to return to the Metropolitan Hotel.
I would definitely recommend it to friends.

The hotel is in an excellent location in downtown Vancouver. It is beautiful and the rooms are clean with nice large bathrooms. The Vancouver trolley station is only about a block away.
The rooms were spacious and comfortable. The location was very close to downtown shopping and action, but it was in a fairly quiet area.
I am very likely
to return to the Metropolitan Hotel.
I would definitely recommend it to friends.

While we only stayed one night, after cruise and before traveling home, we were very happy with this hotel. The staff truly made you feel welcome. The room was great, bed so comfortable. Used the computers to print out boarding passes, no charge....

Visited Vancouver in 2006 with my family on a trip and we stayed at this hotel. We were on a tour so this was the hotel that they booked. I had a problem with my room because my parents came along and I needed the agency to help me change rooms, but they refused. I had to go talk to the staff and offered to cover any difference that might be generated from the new room. Instead of charging me extra, they gave me the room at the original cost. I was really happy about that since the agency wouldn't help me do a change. Since i was on the tour everything was taken care of from sight seeing all the way to eating my meals. I rate this hotel a 8 out of 10 because of their willingness to help their guests.

Recently, I flew to Vancouver for a one week stay and stayed at the Metropolitan Hotel. I had a wonderful experience and time at this hotel. The hotel is located in the heart of Vancouver. Everything that a tourist would want to see is a short distance from the hotel. I had a relaxing time at the hotel. The staff and service treated me like a king. Everyone was very polite and attentive to your needs. The rooms that I booked was a smaller one. Everything was standard (TV, king bed, bathroom - sink, toilet, tub, air conditioning) and clean. The dining was very good as well. It was a great meal. I will come back for sure!

This hotels location is perfect! It is within walking distance from the cruise terminal, the sea bus, SkyTrain, and needless to say, bus transportation. The location couldn't be better to explore the city. Everywhere we went, we always ended up within a few blocks of the hotel.
Hotel employees were friendly and courteous, especially at the Restaurant where staff provided excellent service. The food was tasty and nutrious. The staff were very polite and friendly, exceeded my expectations.
The room that i had was cosy and had a very relaxed feeling to it. In addition, the room was clean, comfortable and provided a non-smoking enviornment. Everytime i came into my room after exploring the city, i would find the weather card on my pillow. Great service.
Overall, this hotel is cheaper but provides the same service and has the same layout (room wise) as other more expensive hotels.

We stayed at the Metropolitan Hotel for 3 nights. The hotel was located right in the centre of town, 5 minutes walk from everything pretty much. The check in was painless, I requested for a room on a high floor and it was honoured without any hassle. The room was really big and spacious. The bed was very comfortable, and the bathroom again very large and well furnished. The staffs were extremely helpful and let me check my email for free every day. The spa was lovely with fantastic views of the nearby buildings through a glass roof. I found all the staff to be outstandingly courteous in every respect.

I must say I have mixed feelings about the Metropolitan. I would like to leave a few points for future travelers:
I was traveling with two underage students. The hotel has adjoining rooms allowing for easier chaperoning. However, the fitness facilities are for ages sixteen and over. This is particularly upsetting since my students would have liked to make use of the facilities, and I work hard everyday to instill in my students the value of quality daily physical activity. It disturbs me to see blanket age discrimination especially when it comes to healthy wellbeing. I would much prefer a supervisory policy to their current one.
Not able to use the fitness equipment, we attempted to use the in-room gaming system. Whenever we tried to purchase a game to play, the screen would turn blue and return us to the main menu. The system didnt work for us, but the front desk made sure we werent charged for any of it.
The hotel does offer internet. Its not wireless in the rooms, and it costs about $10 a day. It is however free and wireless in the hotel lobby.
The concierge service was useful in helping us find our way to and from various tourism sites in the city. However, an error regarding the direct return bus (only travels in the mornings) could have cost us our flight home.
On the positive side, the rooms are really nice. The beds are soft, and the bathrooms are enormous. It is a very nice hotel, and the staff was very pleasant and accommodating. They have porters and bellmen to open doors for you and carry your luggage. Like many of the reviews here, I must agree that the front-desk staff is truly excellent. They checked regularly to see how we were enjoying our stay. I also observed many other guests checking out. It was obvious they enjoyed their say. We were able to drop our bags off before check in allowing us to tour around without our burdensome luggage.
The hotel is downtown and walking distance to many attractions. Its about 30 minutes from the Airport, and 10 minutes from Stanley Park by taxi.
All in all, I would definitely return here for business or vacation with my wife, but not with children.
